Lydia Diane Modling

Lydia Diane Sawyer Modling, 78, of Green Cove Springs, FL passed away Sunday, June 18, 2023. Diane was born in Columbus, Georgia to parents Alto and Eunice Sawyer.

She lived in Columbus, Georgia until 1965, when she moved to Jacksonville, FL. She lived a joyful life with the love of her life and husband of 58 years. Diane loved life and never met a stranger. She was always active and never missed a chance to get on the dance floor. She was passionate about a lot in her life including dancing, going to the beach or being on the water in the boat, but her biggest passion was her family, especially her grandchildren. She will be deeply missed by those that she loved the most.

Angels are only on loan from Heaven for a given time. Having served her generation by the will of God, she fell asleep.

Diane was preceded in death by her parents Alto Sawyer and Eunice Odom Sawyer; brothers, Howard Sawyer and Clayton Sawyer Sr. and sisters, Jeanette Schenk and Shirley Deadwyler.

She is survived by her loving husband Arthur Calvin Modling; daughter, Bonnie Fenwick (George); son, Jason Modling (Liz); sister, Betty Sawyer; grandchildren, Erika McCord, Bodhi Modling (Brooke), Larkin Modling, Cameron Harris, Lindsey Modling, Clay Fenwick, Claire Fenwick and Connor Fenwick; great grandchildren, Arley McCord, Finnegan McCord and Slater Modling.

Funeral Services were be held at 11a.m. Wednesday, June 21, 2023, in the Chapel of Russell Haven of Rest Funeral Home.

The time of visitation with the family was from 10-11 a.m. prior to the services. Burial will follow the funeral at Jacksonville Memorial Gardens, 111 Blanding Blvd., Orange Park, FL 32073.
