John Wade Hoffpauir was born (on August 16, 1944) and raised in New Orleans, Louisiana and moved to Florida in the late 1960s, and died on Saturday, July 8, 2023, at his home in Crescent City, Florida, with his companion, Linda Keener, at his side.

Wade Hoffpauir was a graduate of East Jefferson High School in Metairie, the University of Southern Mississippi in Hattiesburg and LSU Baton Rouge with a master’s in wildlife biology.

He moved to Green Cove Springs, Florida around 1969 for a biology teaching position at Clay High School where he worked for 30 years until retirement around 1999.  While he was teaching, he started a plant nursery business and after retirement, devoted himself to building the business “Transplant Nursery” in Green Cove Springs for many years.

Around 2006, he realized his lifelong dream when he purchased a home on the river in Crescent City, Florida and enjoyed many many years relaxing, boating, and watching the sunset on the river.  He enjoyed meeting and socializing with people and friends including the time he spent with friends telling big fish stories with the “Liar’s Bench” group in Crescent City.

He will be greatly missed by his friends and his family.  He was predeceased by his parents, Carroll L. Hoffpauir and Anna Volking Hoffpauir, his sister, Carol Ann Hoffpauir Hall and his brother, Albert Hoffpauir.  He is survived by his daughter, Bronwyn Hoffpauir of Austin, Texas and his companion, Linda Keener, and family members, nieces, Carla Hall Minor, Cathryn Hall Angeles, Tammy Barron, and nephew, Albert Hoffpauir, Jr.

There are plans for a Celebration of Life for Wade Hoffpauir at some point in the future.
