Expect great things – Attempt Great Things

Posted

Great Christian missionary, social reformer and cultural anthropologist William Carey once said, “Expect great things from God, attempt great things for God.”

God is all-powerful, and we can expect Him to accomplish great things in our lives and the world around us. While this is true, we must also put forth effort as well if we expect good things to happen for us.

Attempting great things requires something of us. You need to seek God’s vision for your life, believe in yourself, make a plan, and take action. All of these steps will be successful IF, and this is the essential ingredient, you choose to partner with God in the process.

If we want God to act in our lives, we must firmly believe in Him and His power. Hebrews 11:6 says, “It is impossible to please God without faith. Anyone who wants to come to him must believe that God exists and that he rewards those who sincerely seek him.” God will reward us if we seek Him and put effort into our relationship with Him. Only then can we enter the process of collaborating with Him to make great things happen in our lives and the world around us.

Don’t put a limit on what you believe God can accomplish in your life. Ephesians 3:20 says, “Now all glory to God, who is able, through his mighty power at work within us, to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think.” Not only can God do anything, but He can accomplish INFINITELY MORE than we could ever ask Him or even dream up!

Remember, attempting great things requires courage, dedication, and resilience. It may involve stepping outside our comfort zone, taking calculated risks, and investing time and effort. But remember these powerful words of Jesus, “What is impossible for people is possible with God.” (Luke 18:27)

Stay committed to God’s plan. Keep learning and growing. Persevere when times are tough. You don’t have to do this alone. In fact, God’s plan is we NOT to go at it alone.

Don’t ever forget this truth found in Philippians 4:13, “For I can do everything through Christ, who gives me strength.”
