We continue our series on The Lord’s Prayer and today we look at “Supplication”. Supplication is the act of presenting our needs and desires to God. It's about acknowledging our dependence on Him as our provider and trusting Him to meet our daily necessities, whether it's food, clothing, shelter, or income.

Jesus encourages us to engage in supplication after adoring God and consecrating ourselves to His will. In Matthew 6:11 Jesus teaches us to pray, "Give us today our daily bread," reminding us that it's not only acceptable but essential to bring our needs before God in prayer.

 Throughout history, God has faithfully provided for His people. In the desert, God provided manna for the Israelites, sustaining them day by day (Exodus 16). This serves as a powerful reminder that God is our provider, and He will never abandon us in our times of need.

When we engage in supplication, we demonstrate our reliance on God's provision rather than our own efforts. It's an act of humility, recognizing that apart from God, we can do nothing. In John 15:5 Jesus said, “For apart from me you can do nothing”. Jesus also said something equally important in Matthew 19:26, “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible”.

It's essential to remember that God delights in answering our prayers. As a loving Father, He longs to meet our needs and fulfill the desires of our hearts. But as a good and loving father decides what is best for his child, so does our Heavenly Father. His timing is perfect, however, that timing may differ from our own. Therefore, as we present our requests before Him, let us do so with patience, faith, and trust.

Supplication is a vital part of our prayer journey. It's the culmination of worship, surrender, and trust, as we lay our needs before our gracious God and His throne of grace. So, let us approach God with confidence, knowing that He hears our prayers and will answer according to His perfect will.
