GREEN COVE SPRINGS – A Doctors Inlet bookkeeper accused of shooting toward five Clay County Sheriff’s Office deputies after she was fired for using school district credit cards to make 12 different transactions pleaded not guilty to attempted second-degree murder of law enforcement officers and three counts of credit card fraud last Monday at her arraignment.

According to the arrest report, Tammy Jo Saucier, 51, of Middleburg, was charged with firing a single shot from a handgun in the direction of five deputies who cornered her in a Middleburg cemetery after deputies were called after school principal Carolyn Ayers completed an audit on several “suspicious purchase with multiple different accounts.”

The school’s Clay County District Police officer said Saucier made suicidal threats in a text message on Jan. 23. CCSO deputies spotted her driving along Branan Field Road and turning onto Old Jennings Road before pulling into Hardage-Giddens Holly Hill Memorial Park. During the standoff, CCSO said Saucier shot at deputies. They responded by shooting her with a bean bag.

Once in jail, she was charged with three counts of fraudulent use of a credit card after using one card at Walmart two times for a total of $564.19; and, Home Depot twice for $451.95; and eight times at Publix for $746.84.

One deputy said some of the items may have been purchased for school use.

She is being held without bond. A pretrial conference was scheduled for March 11.
