Betty Jean Torrence, age 93, of Penney Farms, Florida, passed away on August 4, 2023. She was born on August 21, 1929, in Binghamton, New York. Betty was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

Betty was a kind and caring woman who had a deep love for nature and animals, especially her beloved cats. She found solace in spending time outdoors, bird-watching, and appreciating the beauty of the world around her. Her faith was an integral part of her life, and she was a devoted follower of God. Betty’s warm and nurturing personality extended to her family, whom she cherished dearly. She was a dedicated wife to her beloved spouse, Calvin Torrence, and a loving mother to her children, Michael Torrence, Robert Torrence, Kathleen Torrence, and Barbara Castelli.

In her role as a homemaker, Betty created a loving and welcoming home for her family. She poured her heart into nurturing her children and creating a warm and inviting environment for them. Betty’s talents extended beyond her role as a homemaker, as she had a passion for painting and expressed herself through her artwork and jewelry design. She also was an avid baseball fan and enjoyed watching her favorite teams the Texas Rangers and New York Yankees.

Betty’s memory will be forever cherished by her surviving family members, including her brother Frank (Deborah), her son Robert, her daughter Kathleen (Robert), her daughter Barbara (Christopher), her grandson Jason (Jessica), her granddaughter Jessica, her grandson Gregory (Paige), her granddaughter Rachel (Dane), and her great-grandchildren Zackary, Annabelle, Stella, Ashlynn, Caroline, Claire, and Mack. She was preceded in death by her mother, Mary Obrochta McFee, her father, George Jones, her spouse, Calvin Torrence, and her son, Michael Torrence.

Betty will be remembered for her kind and loving nature, her devotion to her family, and her zest for life. She leaves behind a legacy of love and warmth that will continue to inspire those who knew her. A celebration of Betty’s life will be held on Sunday, August 20th, at 11 am at Helm - Gallagher Funeral Home in Green Cove Springs. This will be an opportunity for family and friends to gather and remember the beautiful life that Betty lived.
