Many people will go throughout their entire lives looking for the meaning of it all. Sadly, many people never find it. What’s really unfortunate about the whole situation is that it’s a lot more simple than people think. There isn’t some complicated, mysterious formula to solve the meaning of life. Rather, life is all about knowing God. He created us to love and be loved by Him!

Renowned Theologian and author J.J. Packer once said, “Once you become aware that the main business that you are here for is to know God, most of life's problems fall into place of their own accord.”

The scripture also gives us great insight in Philippians 3:8 where it says, “Yes, everything else is worthless when compared with the infinite value of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. For his sake I have discarded everything else, counting it all as garbage, so that I could gain Christ.” This clearly shows how crucial knowing God is to the health and success of our lives. If we don’t know Him, everything else is meaningless!

Jeremiah 9:23-24 says, “This is what the Lord says: “Don’t let the wise boast in their wisdom, or the powerful boast in their power, or the rich boast in their riches. But those who wish to boast should boast in this alone: that they truly know me and understand that I am the Lord who demonstrates unfailing love and who brings justice and righteousness to the earth, and that I delight in these things. I, the Lord, have spoken!”

The things we celebrate and boast about in this life are all fruitless because we often simply boast of our own accomplishments. What’s truly meaningful is when we boast of what the Lord has done in our lives and our vibrant relationship with Him. That’s what we ought to truly be celebrating.

We come to know God through good spiritual habits, worship, following His instructions for life, and our study of biblical truth. Through these practices we draw ever closer to our Creator. In His presence you will experience the reason why you exist, the very meaning of life: to love and be loved by Him.

That is what life is all about, knowing God! What could be better?
