RHS Rodriguez, MHS McWatters leading FSCJ XC

JACKSONVILLE - As usual Clay County Athletes are an integral part of the FSCJ XC programs.

Freshmen athletes Julio Rodriguez (Ridgeview High) and Logan Moore (Middleburg High) have taken turns leading the team by being the top runner each week of the season.
Rodriguez finished in first place at the Whistling Death 5k in 17:29 with teammates Christian Mayfield (OPHS) second in 17:32 and Logan Moore (MHS) in third at 17:35. Moore was the team's top runner at the Embry Riddle Cross Country Classic with a 30:25.46 split for the 8K (4.97 miles) course and the University of Florida Run Club XC Invitational.
Former Orange Park High’s Christian Mayfield has seen steady improvement with a PR (personal record) at every meet this year and is a solid bet to make the final eight athletes that will represent the college at the NJCAA Region 8 Cross Country Championships later this month at Apalachee Regional Park in Tallahassee.
Kayleigh McWatters (Middleburg High), with a 22:43 split at the Embry Riddle Cross Country Classic on September 16, is having another successful year as the team's number two runner and last week moved to 9th place on the FSCJ Top 10 All-Time list with her PR performance at the UF Run Club Invitational.
