GREEN COVE SPRINGS – The annual Vietnam Veterans ceremony on March 25 at the TAPS Memorial in Green Cove Springs was significant this year for Orange Park Sophia Fleming Chapter of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution. The DAR Service for Veteran Committee members conducted their first pinning of Vietnam veterans from our community. Twelve Sophia Fleming members and one grandson volunteered, along with three husbands of DARs who accompanied their wives. Two of the chapter’s U.S. Navy veterans, Laura Livingston and Cheryl Gandee, pinned veterans at the chapter’s table. National Vietnam War Veterans Day honors the men and women who served and sacrificed during the longest conflict in American history.
