OAKLEAF – A 38-year-old woman was arrested after another woman was savagely beaten at The Villages at Oakleaf apartment complex.

A Clay County Sheriff’s Office deputy responded to a battery in progress on Feb. 22 shortly before 6 p.m. He found a pool of blood, a bloody handprint on carpeting and a woman with blood covering her face in the parking lot. The victim was taken to Baptist Oakleaf Emergency Room, but she was transferred to UF Health Jacksonville because the ER center wasn’t equipped to handle the level of trauma sustained by the victim.

Following an investigation, deputies arrested Luendy Valerie Creese, of Oakleaf, seven hours later and charged her with aggravated battery. According to the arrest report, her only injury was a swollen right hand.

The victim suffered swelling to her right hand, a cut on her forehead and scraps on her right forearm consistent with being rubbed against concrete. The victim wasn’t physically able to complete a written statement.

Creese, whose bond was set at $75,003, will be in court on March 25.
