PENSACLOA Middleburg High’s Navy JROTC finished 13th at the Navy Nationals Competition on April 4-5 at Naval Air Station Pensacola.

The top 24 NJROTC units from the country competed head-to-head for “Best NJROTC Unit in the Nation.”

“I could not be prouder of what these young men and women have accomplished this year. They set their goals at the beginning of the year and worked relentlessly all season to achieve them,” said Cmdr. Shannon Clark, Senior Naval Science Instructor. “It has been nine years since Middleburg has competed at Nationals, and I am extremely blessed to be a part of this accomplishment.”

While finishing 13th overall is commendable, the Middleburg Color Guard finished fourth. This team consists of Color Guard Commander/Cadet Joy Nolte and Cadets Jaden Park, Eric Luedtke and Grace Bonser.

“This team has performed well all year,” Clark said. “They work extremely well together.”

Other top performances from Middleburg included junior Jaden Park, who finished seventh with 109 push-ups and eighth-place team finishes for Personnel Inspection and Armed Basic Drill.
