MIDDLEBURG – A man wanted for an armed burglary was found hiding in the attic of his mother’s home on Jan. 26.
In addition to armed burglary and domestic violence charges, the Clay County Sheriff’s Office also served Michael Allen Allbritton Jr., 37, of Middleburg, with an outstanding warrant for fleeing law enforcement with lights and siren active and driving with a suspended license.
According to the arrest report, deputies said a man said Allbritton struck him in the back of his head while he was being robbed on Jan. 25. The man had “a contusion with swelling consistent with the described blunt force trauma to the back of his head,” CCSO reported.
Deputies got permission from Allbritton’s mother to search her house. Deputies not only found evidence of the robbery in a bedroom, they found Allbritton hiding in the attic.
Once in jail, he was arrested for an outstanding warrant following a short chase on Dec. 4. According to the affidavit for an arrest warrant, a deputy spotted Allbritton in a grocery store parking lot at the corner of County Road 218 and State Road 21. When he attempted to pull him over for an outstanding driving with a suspended license charge, CCSO said Allbritton sped away. The chase was quickly suspended because the original charge was a misdemeanor.
Allbritton’s bond was set at Allbritton $90,008.
