JACKSONVILLE BEACH - Keystone Heights senior golfer Kenneth Guy opened up with a top 10 first nine holes with three birdies leaving him just one over par, but the second half of the region 1-1A golf championship tournament, held Monday at Jacksonville Beach Golf Club, proved a bit more taxing for all the early leaders as Guy's 12th place finish put the Keystone Heights boys team in seventh place among state powerhouses including region champion Episcopal, at 294 total, with Bolles second, at 300, and Pensacola Catholic third, at 315. Keystone Heights finished with a 335 score. Episcopal was last year's state runner-up to FAU.

Episcopal's Henry Robards, a senior who was Class 1A runnerup last year by one stroke, dominated at the top at the region meet with a one-under-par score of 70 on the tough Jacksonville Beach course. Robards hit at three under par on the first nine, but also added strokes in the final nine with a final finish of a two over 38 for his final score.

Keystone Heights will await an FHSAA decision on an at-large bid for Guy and the Indians team with the top two teams advancing from regions and the rest of the field moving based on course difficulty.

Guy is also a punter for the Keystone Heights football team that is in position for a region playoff spot with one regular season game remaining.

For the rest of the Indians team, junior Ty Mitzel and senior Alexander Addington both hit for 81, Jacob Beach, a freshman, hit for 95 and senior Nick Binet was at 100.

For St. Johns Country Day School, eighth grader Beckham Cumming shot an 84 for 37th place.
