WEEKI WACHEE - Keystone Heights High senior cross country runner Alex Guy went two for two in sub-17 minute runs to move from districts to regions and, now, regions to state with a sixth place finish at the region 2-2A cross country championships held Sat., Nov. 3 in Weeki Wachee.
Guy, who qualified as a top 15 finisher, finished in 16 minutes, 54.91 seconds to advance to his first Class 2A championship race on Sat., Nov. 10 in Tallahassee.
Guy was district 5-2A champion with a 16:54.33 time. Keystone Heights’ boys team finished 12th.
In the girls region race, Camryn Williams finished 28th in 21:29.49 to end her season. Williams’ time was 32 seconds faster than her second place district time, but still no fast enough to advance to state with the top 13 runners finishing under 20 minutes.
