JACKSONVILLE – Transportation Security Administration officers at Jacksonville International Airport are prepared for the spring break travel period, which began March 7 and continues through April 5. TSA anticipates officers nationwide will screen about 6% more passengers than last year’s spring break period.

TSA will screen an average 12,500 passengers daily during the busy spring break period at JAX, with the heaviest concentration falling March 22-25 and March 29-April 1. Passenger screening totals during those periods could peak at around 13,500 passengers daily.

Any liquids, sunscreen containers and alcohol more than 3.4 ounces must be packed in a checked bag. Liquids, aerosols, gels, creams and pastes are allowed in carry-on bags as long as each item is 3.4 ounces or less and placed in one quart-sized bag. Each passenger is limited to one quart-size bag of liquids, aerosols, gels, creams and pastes.

Unloaded firearms must be packed in a locked, hard-sided case in checked baggage only and must be declared to the airline. Travelers who bring firearms or other weapons to the security checkpoint face consequences.
