Fleming Island’s Burson earns degree from Alabama
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Heather Burson of Fleming Island received the following degree(s) from The University of Alabama: Master of Science in Nursing. Alabama awarded more than 5,885 degrees during its spring commencement ceremonies.
A recent economic analysis found that a degree from The University of Alabama can pay more over time than investments in United States stock market indexes. Three Clay students make Dean’s List at Ole Miss
UNIVERSITY, Miss. – The University of Mississippi announced Liam Bielik and Isabella Boyd from Orange Park and Courtney George from Fleming Island earned spots on the Dean’s List.
The Dean’s Honor Roll is reserved for students who earn a semester GPA of 3.50-3.74. In order to be eligible for honor roll designation, a student must have completed at least 12 graded hours for the semester and may not be on academic probation during the semester.
The University of Mississippi, affectionately known as Ole Miss, is the state’s flagship university.

Alabama has five Clay students on Dean’s List
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – A total of 12,791 students enrolled during Fall Semester 2022 at The University of Alabama were named to the dean’s list with an academic record of 3.5 (or above) or the president’s list with an academic record of 4.0 (all A’s). These driven students are making waves across UA’s more than 70 undergraduate programs and 12 colleges and schools.
The UA dean’s and president’s lists recognize full-time undergraduate students. The lists do not apply to graduate students or undergraduate students who take less than a full course load.
The 2022 fall lists included Lilly Hudson, Chloe Hodges and Max Williams of Fleming Island, Aysia Washington of Oakleaf and Robert Poole of Orange Park.

Two local students graduate from Oregon State
 CORVALLIS, Ore. – Oregon State University will graduate more than 7,300 students during ceremonies on June 17 at Reser Stadium in Corvallis and Sunday, June 18 at OSU-Cascades in Bend, including Dylan Abel with a Bachelor of Arts in English and Ana Chachian, with a Master of Health Physics in Radiation Health Physics. Both are from Fleming Island.
The 7,338 graduates will receive 7,583 degrees. There will be 238 students receiving two degrees, two receiving three degrees and one receiving four degrees. OSU’s 2023 graduates represent 34 of Oregon’s 36 counties, 50 states and 71 countries.

Valdosta State has seven from Clay on Dean’s List
VALDOSTA, Ga. – More than 1,600 students were named to Valdosta State University’s Spring 2023 Dean’s List. This includes the following area residents – Jackson Bull of Fleming Island, Tatiana King, Julia Higdon, Iyanni Felder and Madeline Higdon of Orange Park and Bre’niah Hare and Victoria Ahmadu of Oakleaf.
To qualify for Dean’s List at VSU, students must achieve a semester grade point average of 3.50 or higher on nine or more semester hours with an institutional grade point average of 3.00 or higher. Please note that developmental studies, transient, and graduate students are not eligible for Dean’s List status.

Middleburg’s LeClair on McNeese Honor Roll
LAKE CHARLES, La. – The McNeese State University Honor Roll for the 2023 spring semester has been announced. The honor roll lists undergraduate students earning at least a 3.0 or B average while carrying 12 or more semester hours.
McNeese out-of-state students on the Honor Roll included Middleburg’s Richard Cole LeClair.
