ORANGE PARK –Troy Allen Moore, 32, was arrested on charges of aggravated assault on a Clay County Sheriff’s Office deputy and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon following a four-hour standoff with CCSO at a Wells Road apartment complex.
Shortly after midnight on Oct. 1, deputies received a call regarding a disturbance. According to CCSO, Moore was inside the apartment, brandishing a firearm and threatening to use it. Deputies encountered two victims who reported that while visiting their residence, Moore accused them of stealing items belonging to his fiancée. An argument ensued, during which Moore displayed a firearm and pointed it at the victims.
Both victims escaped and dialed 911. Deputies began speaking with the victims and learned that three additional individuals were still inside the apartment with Moore. As deputies engaged with the victims, Moore emerged armed with a firearm from the apartment’s front door. He noticed the presence of deputies, pointed the firearm at one of them and retreated into the residence with the others. Moore proceeded to turn off all the lights. Deputies made continuous attempts to establish communication. In response, the deputies deployed SWAT, Negotiation, and Investigation teams. For safety reasons, residents in nearby apartments were evacuated. After several hours, Moore contacted 911 and voluntarily agreed to surrender. He was eventually taken into custody and transported to the Clay County Jail without further incident.
The investigation is ongoing.
Moore will return to court on Oct. 30. His bond was $200,009.
