ORANGE PARK – The Active After 50 Group, the largest producer of expos for consumers 50 and older in Northeast Florida, announces the fifth Annual Active After 50 Expo at the Thrasher-Horne Conference Center.

If you wish to remain healthy and active, you won’t want to miss the Active After 50 Expo, a Lifestyle, Health & Active Aging event to be held Saturday, Aug. 12, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 283 College Dr.

Presented by Millennium Physician Group in association with Active After 50 Online, the event is free. Clay County Gen Xers, Baby Boomers, Seniors, Caregivers, family members and professionals who serve the Baby Boomer and Senior community are encouraged to attend.

More than 50 vendors will be on hand. Attendees will enjoy a diverse range of exhibitors, fitness and nutrition tips, live music, free health screenings, Pickleball, Dance, Yoga Demos, job and volunteer opportunities and a free raffle with lots of door prizes.

The generation gap is dwindling, boomers are rapidly becoming seniors and options for seniors have changed considerably.

“Seniors are living longer and healthier lives. It is so important to remain active,” said Sara Malone, event director of the expo.

Also, for Pickleball players and those who want to learn how to play or current players who want to improve, Pam Hatch, USAPA Pickleball Ambassador and PPR Certified Pickleball Instructor, will be on hand to give free instruction. A full-sized pickleball court will be set up. If you don’t have a paddle, one will be provided. Pam will give pickleball tips and an introduction to the game. Sponsored by Selkirk Sport. Pickleball instruction will take place from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

Kam Lee Martial Arts will demonstrate Tai Chi's benefits at 10:30 a.m. Make sure to visit their booth and learn about everything they offer! Following the Tai Chi demo, make sure you stay to watch Blue Lotus World Dance Group from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Blue Lotus will have their belly dancing group; they are always a popular attraction and provide plenty of fun and entertainment.

Make sure you participate in the Passport to Prizes program. By just collecting initials from participating vendors, you can enter to win the grand prize – two tickets to Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons at the Florida Theatre. Additional prizes will also be given away.

Local Active After 50 Expo sponsors include Millennium Physician Group, North Florida Sleep Resources, Health Planning Council of Northeast Florida, Kam Lee Center, Active After 50 Online and Selkirk Sport.
