MIDDLEBURG – After getting a call from Ascension St. Vincent’s Clay County, the Clay County Sheriff’s Office arrested an 80-year-old man on Dec. 28 for at least three instances of sexual battery of a child.
Armando Amelis, of Oakleaf, was charged with two counts of sexual battery of a girl between 12-18 and lewd and lascivious molestation of a child after the girl was taken to St. Vincent’s. An examination determined she had been molested.
The sheriff’s office conducted several forensic interviews where it determined the girl had been battered at least three times. Amelis refused to submit a DNA sample.
His bond was set at $500,006.
