Williams joins Rivers at Miami

OAKLEAF - Oakleaf High defensive end Chantz Williams made his decision on Saturday to continue his football days at the University of Miami in an announcement that coincided with his father's birthday.

Williams, a defensive end, was one of the most sought after defensive linemen with Georgia, LSU, Texas A & M all vying for the standout outside rush player speed and dexterity.

Williams, at 6'-4" and weighing near 240 pounds, was an Under Armour All-American and also a four-star recruit in most post season polls. Williams joins a recruit class of Miami that had five defensive linemen expected to fill some voids in front of Williams' former Oakleaf High teammate, Miami senior middle linebacker Shaquille Quarterman. Williams is the highest-rated defensive player committed to Miami for 2020 and second-highest rated player overall. Williams is the 85th ranked player overall for 2020, the 12th ranked weakside defense end and fourth-ranked player in Florida.

Also recruited by Miami, on offense, was Oakleaf High offensive tackle Jalen Rivers about two months prior.

Williams, a multi-sport athlete at Oakleaf, holds the shot block record for basketball and competed in weightlifting and track as a shot putter.
