November 1

Final week of play. Who can get in? Keystone Heights could get playoff points with win over Union County, Orange Park missed a shot at being one of three playoff teams from county disastrous loss to Menendez and now must rebound against unbeaten Fleming Island. Oakleaf and Clay, both with wins last week, last chance to end season strong. Ridgeview won three bigs last year and missed playoffs; win over West Nassau may be enough push to create momentum for next year for first year coach Matt Knauss.

(2018, 2019)

1A-Union County (5-6, 4-5) at 4A-Keystone Heights (5-5, 7-1) (7:30 p.m.)
Keystone Heights rolls with another strong run attack.
5A-Orange Park (6-4, 5-4) at 7A-Fleming Island (6-4 8-0)
Disastrous 27-0 loss to Menendez in district championship may or may not fuel some energy in final game. Raiders got inside red zone numerous times and failed to score with two interceptions deep in Menendez territory and a missed field goal. Wide out Sean Dixon had a superb night, but was not enough.
8A-Oakleaf (5-6, 6-3) at 5A-Clay (4-6. 1-8)
Oakleaf responded from brutal back-to-back district losses with an offensive explosion on Nease High in their 42-14 win Friday night. Oakleaf got two scores from running back Devin Outlawn and a defensive highlight night from cornerback Omahr Tolliver who stripped a Nease ball carrier for a 75 yard turnaround touchdown before picking up a blocked field goal and going another 75 yards to paydirt. Linebacker Korei Sheppard also had an interception. Quarterback Walter Simmons hit Antonio Marshall for one score and also scored on a 31 yard run to end the game. Simmons did have an interception deep in Nease territory.
6A-Middleburg (3-7, 2-7) at 3A-Baldwin (9-2, 7-2)
Middleburg held strong against Columbia, 48-23, but the road stays bumpy with strong Baldwin team as final game. Stone Newsome with three TD runs.
SJCDS BYE
Against clearly established 2A powerhouse Aucilla Christian (9-0), Spartans (3-4) lost 38-8, but did fight to the end with final score of the night.
4A-West Nassau (9-3, 7-2) at 5A-Ridgeview (5-5, 1-8)
Ridgeview let Clay ruin homecoming. West Nassau not any easier.

Game of the Week: A Raider upset of Fleming Island may ease sting of district loss to Menendez, but Hyams and friends won’t blow an unbeaten season on Friday.
