Time for praise

When Jesus entered Jerusalem riding on a donkey, the people shouted His praises with great enthusiasm. Many of the people laid their coats on the ground for Him to ride over. Others cut leaves from the trees and laid them before Him. The masses were shouting His praises. Many believed He was on His way to Jerusalem to be crowned king. It was a glorious and happy crowd.

Some of the Pharisees, however, tried to raise doubts. They asked Jesus to stop the demonstration of praise. Jesus replied, “I tell you, if these were silent, the very stones would cry out.” The inanimate rocks on the ground were put there by the Creator for the praise of His name!!

Almighty God created His entire, glorious universe for the praise of His name. The rocks, mountains, seas, clouds, heavens – all of it is here to the glory of our gracious, majestic God.

Even the rocks, Jesus said, are here to praise Him. Israel is a land of rocks!

I just returned from a trip there and everywhere I turned I saw rocks. How appropriate that Jesus looked around and said, “If these were silent, the very stones (rocks) would cry out.”

The entire universe expresses praise to God. We have no control over that, but we do have complete control over how we individually praise Him. Our individual praise is just as important to God as the praise His whole creation gives to Him.

Make it a point in your life today to join in the chorus with all of God’s works to praise Him. Read a Psalm about praising Him. Join your heart with the Scripture and lift up your voice to the glory of God. Someone said, “What if we had today, only what we praised God for yesterday?”

It is time for us to praise the Lord! The last verse of all the Psalms says this:

“Let everything that has breath praise the Lord.

Praise the Lord!” – Psalm 150:6
