Orange Park Town Manager John Bowles told the city council to ready to look at new plans for a new combined city police and fire headquarters to be built behind the city’s new Town Hall.

Jane DiLoreto was named Citizen of the Year by the Orange Park Rotary Club.

Orange Park Town Council reviewed a Capital Improvement Project plan that had an initial price tag of $1,241,700.

The Parents Coalition scheduled a meeting at the Green Cove Springs Public Library to discuss how to raise funds to bring the Jacksonville Symphony Orchestra to perform at Magnolia Point.

Clay County Administrator John Bowles said he was going to submit his resignation on July 7 so he would be in full compliance with a state law governing municipal employees who run for public office. Bowles announced his candidacy for Clerk of Court and County Comptroller.

Signed petitions from about 70 residents of Tara Farms combined with residents’ attending a BCC meeting convinced the County Commission to reject a rezoning request on Plantation Drive near the intersection of County Road 220 and College Drive that residents believed would encroach on Tara Farms.

County Commissioners passed three resolutions for the reinstatement of the Blanding Boulevard widening project, upgrading of interstate interchanges State Road-21 and U.S. 17.

Former Orange Park attorney William R. Hester Jr. was acquitted of charges that he took part in a $362,000 home mortgage scheme.
