An anonymous donor presented a $1 million gift to St. Johns Country Day School, saying the gift was made after 75 percent of parents participated in the school’s annual fund drive.
Supporters of Boy Scouts of America honored Senior Judge William A. Wilkes, while the Black Creek District of the North Florida Council of the Scouts raised just over $20,000 to further sustain its programs in Clay County.
Team Mile Marker Brewing of Fleming Island, a 12-man relay team, completed the 162-mile Miami-to-Key West marathon in 31 hours, 52 minutes and 47.3 seconds.

William “Ron” Little of Orange Park received the Secretary of Defense’s Medal for the Defense of Freedom after he sustained serious injuries while serving as a civilian advisor in Iraq.
Clay Electric Cooperative CEO William Phillips died after choking of food while attending a conference in New Orleans.
S. Bryant Jennings Elementary in Orange Park was alerted by the Clay County Health Department after a staff member was diagnosed with bacterial meningitis.

The Board of Clay County Commissioners voted 4-0 to rezone property on Woodpecker Lane to accommodate a Clay Habitat for Humanity development.
Country singer Faith Hill shoots the music video, “the Secret of Life,” in Green Cove Springs.
Orange Park High basketball coach Daryl Lauderdale, who sent 15 players to college teams, retires, along with assistants Jim Gainey and Greg Vossekuil. Under Lauderdale, the Raiders got as far as the Class 6-A quarterfinals in 1995.

A group of 16 Orange Park High students won the North Florida Regional High-Q Championship and advanced to the state’s Brain Bowl.
The Florida Department of Transportation approves a five-year plan to replace the Lake Brooklyn Bridge in Keystone Heights and the Peters Creek Bridge in Orange Park.
Stephanie Smith wins a two-day long talent show at Orange Park High with her rendition of “Phantom of the Opera.” Clarissa Roberts was the runner-up and Christine Yeager was the first runner-up.
