Daniel Richard Bakaley, 22, of Middleburg was arrested on one count of receiving child pornography over the Internet and was indicted in the Middle District of Florida in U.S. District Court.

An off-duty Clay County Sheriff’s Office deputy approached Cahari Jahquan Anderson, 17, of Jacksonville, after Anderson was seen entering through an exit door of the AMC Theatre. A pat-down search uncovered a loaded nine-millimeter handgun in his pants waistband containing four rounds of .380-caliber ammo.

Clay County Sheriff’s Office deputies arrested Jacob Paul Priest, 22, of Orange Park for indecent public exposure after he was seen in the middle of the 1200 block of Tumbleweed Drive in the Ridgeview area wearing nothing but a white pair of shoes.

Orange Park Assembly of God Rev. Armand Egnew told a group of angry parents that Orange Park Christian Academy on Kingsley Avenue would close on Jan. 15. after months of continued financial problems.

The Clay County School Board prepped for a Jan. 17 public hearing on school boundary changes needed to allow the opening of Shadowlawn and Oakleaf Village Elementary Schools in the fall of 2008.

Special Magistrate Wayne Helsby ruled that Sheriff Rick Beseler does not have to go through binding arbitration each time a Clay County Sheriff’s Office deputy is disciplined. The ruling said the agency’s current disciplinary process was adequate.

George Donald “Don” Guy, 56, of Orange Park, was arrested and charged with attempted murder and unlicensed concealed weapon possession after he allegedly admitted shooting Frank Henry Gerwe Jr. in the chest.

The Clay County Sheriff’s Office reported that burglars pried open the back door of a home in the 5000 block of County Road 214 in Keystone Heights and made off with $1,900 in jewelry.

Retired Lt. Cmdr. Bill Goss of Fleming Island gained national notoriety for his book “The Luckiest Unlucky Man Alive,” which chronicled his battle with malignant melanoma.

Clay County Board of Commissioner members joined Transit Authority members to hop aboard the Jacksonville Transportation Authority’s Orange Park Flyer that runs from downtown Jacksonville to pick up Clay residents at the old Kmart store on Blanding Boulevard.

The Clay County Council on Aging moved into its news senior citizens center in Keystone Heights.

The Clay County Sheriff’s Office arrested Julia Simpson, 33, of Green Cove Springs, for shooting her husband, Dale S. Simpson, 47, three times in the chest and stomach area. She was charged with murder.
