MIDDLEBURG – A 16-year-old boy was charged with manslaughter after he accidentally shot his friend while playing with a gun during a sleepover in the early morning hours Thursday.
Wyatt Allbritton was charged as an adult after his 14-year-old friend died of a single gunshot wound, the Clay County Sheriff’s Office reported.
According to CCSO, “While the suspect was recklessly handling a firearm, the victim was shot. The handgun did not belong to the adult residents of the home where the incident occurred. How the suspect acquired the firearm is still under investigation.”
The agency asked anyone with information regarding the incident to contact Detective R. Youngblood at (904) 264-6512 or via the Safer Watch App at alerts.saferwatchapp.com/85838067.
