St Johns Country Day School needed two two-run home runs from eighth grader Tanner Zellem to close the deal on visiting Fleming Island on Tuesday, Feb. 20.
Despite a Fleming Island five-run fifth inning to tie the game, the Golden Eagles couldn't close the deal in the top of the eighth inning. After getting two consecutive runners on base by being hit with pitches and no
outs on the board, Cody Myers stepped up, and on a 2-2 count, hit a line drive single to score Troy Britts for the game winner in extra innings.
