Have you ever faced a time of deep personal sorrow? Someone very close to you died unexpectedly. You were diagnosed with untreatable illness. A very personal relationship was terminated by betrayal.
How did you deal with it? Some people turn to drugs, alcohol, or some other crutch that makes their problem worse.
Looking for answers in the wrong places produces the wrong answers.
Most often the answer that we need comes through a person. In the search for the answer to a deep sorrow or need, sometimes trust is put in the wrong person. Then, when that person cannot be what we need, the problem is made worse.
But there is always Someone in whom we can find the answers when we are in the deepest sorrows of our life. When it seems there is no answer and there cannot be an answer, there is always One who can fill the chasm of sorrow or grief that has overwhelmed us.
He is a Light in darkness; a bright and shining star in the dark midnight sky; the rose blooming in the thicket of thorns. He is the Friend who will be closer to you than anyone else possibly can be.
Maybe Frank E. Graeff said it best when he wrote the following beautiful words:
Does Jesus care when my heart is pained
Too deeply for mirth or song,
As the burdens press,
And the cares distress,
And the way grows weary and long?
O yes, He cares, I know He cares,
His heart is touched with my grief;
When the days are weary,
The long night dreary,
I know my Savior cares.
Turn to the One who loves you more than anyone else can love you. He is your Comforter… your Friend… your Savior … and He is waiting to hear from you.
