Royal selected new Green Cove Springs Mayor

GREEN COVE SPRINGS – An unusually brief Green Cove Springs City Council meeting Tuesday announced changes.

The City Council elected a new mayor and vice mayor for 2020-2021.

Edward Gaw was sworn in as the first seat on the council and Matt Johnson the second.

Former vice mayor Van Royal was voted as the new mayor, and Gaw was voted vice mayor with a 5-0 vote from the council.

In council business, the council approved nominees for Planning and Zoning Board seats.

The nominees were James Hall for seat five on the P and Z board (nominated by former mayor Steven Kelley. Brian Cook was nominated by Gaw for planning and zoning board seat 1, and Richard Hobbs was nominated by council member Johnson for seat three.

The council passed all nominations with a 5-0 vote.
