CLAY COUNTY - In honor of "National School Choice Week," U.S. Rep. Aaron Bean stopped by two Clay County elementary schools last Thursday to celebrate their academic accomplishments.
The Florida Department of Education recently identified Orange Park Elementary as the state's No. 1 school and Paterson Elementary as No. 10.
At both schools, Bean read to students, gave a presentation, answered questions and gave away sweet treats.
Superintendent David Broskie attended, as well as school board members Erin Skipper, Robert Alvero, Ashley Gilhousen and Beth Clark.
Bean also presented each school with a flag flown over the U.S. Capitol and a personalized certificate.
