Jacksonville man arrested on attempted murder charges

ORANGE PARK – A Jacksonville man faces felony charges of attempted murder, grand theft of a firearm and grand theft auto following an investigation.
The Clay County Sheriff’s Police arrested Cameron Christian Stewart, 23, at 5:06 a.m. June 17, after an argument allegedly led to a deadly threat.
Police said Stewart had a verbal argument with his girlfriend and she went to her mother’s house in Orange Park. Stewart contacted her mother, the police report states, “and threatened to come over, kick in the door and shoot everyone in the house.”
Office report states.
The victims contacted police and Stewart was arrested when he went to the house and banged on the door, police said. According to the police report, the vehicle he arrived in was confirmed to be stolen and a stolen handgun was found in the car. Police said officers also found a cigar blunt that tested positive for marijuana and a $10 bill with a small amount of a substance that tested positive for heroin.
Police said Stewart refused to answer officers’ questions and was transported to the Clay County Jail.


Domestic battery charges for Middleburg man

MIDDLEBURG – Police arrested a Middleburg man and his mother after he allegedly strangled his girlfriend until she almost lost consciousness.
The Clay County Sheriff’s Office Jonathon Lewis Dagnan, 22, early June 16 on felony charges of domestic battery and resisting an officer with violence. His mother, Nelsy Jeannette Dagnan, 55, was arrested on a charge of resisting an officer without violence.
Police said officers responded to reports of an assault at the 3500 block of Sandy Branch Court. The victim told officers Dagnan allegedly chocked her and during the struggle pushed his mother into a room and held the door shut.
Police said when they arrived and announced themselves, Dagnan and his mother refused to open the door. The report states his mother seemed scared and upset, and officers believed she was being held against her will. Police broke through the front door and Dagnan tried to punch an officer, the report states, although his fist “did not make contact.”
Police handcuffed Dagnan and his mother after she refused to leave the house and both were transported to the Clay County Jail, the report said. Officers noted a half-empty alcohol container in the house and the report states Dagnan showed signs of impairment.
Police said the victim showed signs of injuries consistent with strangulation.


Man who had been living in shed arrested for battery against family member

MIDDLEBURG – Police arrested a Middleburg man after police say he attacked a member of the family he had been living with.
The Clay County Sheriff’s Office arrested Steven Craig Ashcraft, 55, June 19 faces on charges of simple battery, criminal mischief and resisting an officer without violence.
The report states Ashcraft had been living in a shed in the backyard of the Tillis Lane residence with some access to the home’s common areas.
The victim told police Ashcraft kicked open a bedroom door and knocked the hinges off the frame, the report states. Police said Ashcraft jumped on top of the victim and began hitting him. The victim’s step-son helped hold Ashcraft down until police arrived.
Police said Ashcraft’s breath smelled like alcohol and he had injuries to his eye and big toe. He was arrested and transported to the Orange Park Medical Center, where police said he became agitated and refused to obey an officer’s commands.
Once he was medically cleared, the report states, he was transported to the Clay County Jail. No bond amount was set at press time.


Lawtey woman arrested for providing fake name to buy prescription medicine

ORANGE PARK – Police arrested a Lawtey woman in Orange Park based on a North Carolina arrest warrant for a felony failure to appear.
The Clay County Sheriff’s Office arrested Michelle Lee Gaddy, 40, June 17 while she allegedly attempted to get prescription medicine from the Orange Park Medical Center at 2001 Kingsley Avenue by using a fake name. Police arrested Gaddy at OPMC at 7:33 p.m.
According to the Clay County Sheriff’s Office report, police allegedly found a substance believed to be cocaine in her purse. Gaddy has been charged with felony cocaine possession and a misdemeanor of possession of drug equipment.
Gaddy was transported to the Clay County Jail and will be extradited to Buncombe County, North Carolina. Gaddy remains in jail on $27,755 bond.

Pregnant teen arrested for posting classmate’s nude photos online

ORANGE PARK - A Facebook post led to the arrest of an Orange Park woman

The Clay County Sheriff’s Office arrested Sarah Elizabeth Ray, 19, on charge of sexual cyberharassment after police reported she posted two nude photos without a victim’s consent to the social networking website Facebook, according to the report.

According to the police report, the victim told police Ray had been harassing her on Facebook for months and threatening to fight her. The victim said she contacted CCSO on June 3 after Ray said she would post the photos if the victim refused to fight.

Police said Ray agreed to speak with officers at her apartment on Debarry Avenue. After the interview, she was arrested, the police report states, and handcuffed in the front because she is three months pregnant. Police transported Ray to the Clay County Jail.

Extra grand theft auto charge for Keystone Heights inmate

KEYSTONE HEIGHTS - Police have added a charge for a Keystone Heights man already in jail.

John Louis Nathaniel Huston, 30, now faces a felony charge of grand theft auto, the Clay County Sheriff’s Office report states. The victim told officers Huston came to her residence on Cascade Drive June 4 to speak about purchasing a car the victim had for sale, the report said.

The victim told Huston the car had mechanical issues, the police report states, and Huston asked to bring it to a mechanic friend. According to the report, the victim told Huston he could take the car for two hours as long as he got a battery for it. Huston agreed and left with the keys, the report states, but did not come back and ignored text messages asking to return the key.

The victim said the car was missing the morning of June 6 and she thought Huston had taken the car during the night, the report states. She contacted law enforcement on June 11 after still receiving no response from Huston.

Police said officers went to Huston’s home on Indian Trail June 14 and found the vehicle, which was returned to the victim. Police said officers interviewed Huston and he was placed under arrest for an unrelated burglary.

Hutson had posted bond by press time.

Jacksonville man turns himself into police for sexual assault

JACKSONVILLE - A Jacksonville man has turned himself into police following a warrant for his arrest.

The Clay County Sheriff’s Office arrested Andrew Julius Hylton, 18, June 15 for a sexual battery charge that occurred earlier in the month.

According to the report, the incident occurred at a friend of the victim’s house, where the victim and Hylton were babysitting June 5. Hylton and the victim were kissing when Hylton allegedly exposed his genitals.

The victim spoke to police regarding the matter, and a warrant was placed for his arrest.

The warrant specified Hylton should have no contact with the victim after release.

 

Green Cove Springs woman arrested on elderly battery charges 

GREEN COVE SPRINGS - A Green Cove Springs woman faces two misdemeanor domestic battery charges and a felony charge of battery on a person 65 years or older.

The Clay County Sheriff’s Office arrested Sheri Lee Zanella, 45, at 2:56 a.m. June 15 after police said she slapped, scratched, bit and punched three victims, including her elderly mother, the report said.

Police said officers went to Zanella’s residence on Samara Court around 1 a.m. June 15 for a domestic battery investigation. Zanella allegedly came home from a bar intoxicated and began arguing with family members, Zanella’s mother told officers. Zanella slapped and punched her daughter’s boyfriend and scratched and bit her daughter, the report states.

Police were called after she slapped her mother across the face.

Police said statements from the victims and Zanella’s son and injuries were consistent with the account. Zanella was arrested and transported to the Clay County Jail.

According to the police report, Zanella had been living with her son, her daughter, her daughter’s boyfriend and her mother in the Samara Court residence for three months.
