Orange Park Police investigate stabbing
ORANGE PARK – Officers with the Orange Park Police Department responded to the Orange Park Medical Center Tuesday night to investigate a stabbing.
At approximately 8:32 p.m., an investigation revealed that the stabbing occurred when two men got into an argument inside a home on Moody Avenue in Orange Park.
Police have not released the names of either man, but said one man is in critical but stable condition.
No arrests have been made at this point as detectives continue to work to obtain all the facts surrounding the altercation.
Police are treating the fight as a domestic incident.

St. Augustine man steals car, lies about it
ORANGE PARK – Police said a St. Augustine man is in custody for grand theft auto four months after the incident.
The Clay County Sheriff’s Office charged Sean Jeffrey Holley, 49, on Dec. 18 after extraditing him from the Duval County Pre-Trial Detention Center.
According to the warrant, an acquaintance of Holley’s allowed him to borrow her Grand Marquise sedan for an hour on Aug. 26. Holley drove off from her apartment at 442 Blanding Blvd. near Orange Park, but did not return at the agreed upon time.
Multiple attempts to reach Holley and have him return the car failed.
“Over the next week the defendant gave [the victim] numerous excuses as to why he could not return the vehicle, claiming his brother had stolen it from him and that he was in the hospital due to being shot,” states the warrant.
Although the victim’s car was spotted in a Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office traffic stop on Sept. 19, Holley was not the driver.
At press time, Holley remained in jail with bond set at $5,003.

Jacksonville man charged with robbery, auto theft

ORANGE PARK – Authorities booked a Jacksonville man into the Clay County Jail this week after extraditing him from the Duval County Pre-Trial Detention Center.
The Clay County Sheriff’s Office executed a warrant on Dec. 18 in the arrest of Jeremiah Brian Adams, 29, on one count each of robbery by sudden snatching and grand theft auto.
The case dates back to Oct. 2 when officers from the Orange Park Police Department responded to the Avista Apartments at 741 Park Ave. where the victim told police that Adams had stolen her car after a verbal argument.
According to the warrant, Adams forcibly reached into the woman’s bra and removed her keys, ran to the vehicle and left the apartment complex. She told OPPD officers that she “could not prevent the defendant’s actions in fear of dropping their child.” Adams and the woman have an 11-month-old child together.
Police said, during the robbery, Adams scratched the victim’s right collar bone area. She told police she feared for her life and how Adams could possibly return and retaliate against her and possibly steal the car again with the same set of keys.
At press time, Adams remained in jail with bond set at $32,506.

Melrose man dies in crash
GRANDIN – The Florida Highway Patrol reports that a Melrose man died in a one-vehicle accident on Dec. 17 at 8:30 a.m. in Putnam County.
A 2103 Ford Escape driven by Bruce Wolf, 55, of Melrose was traveling west on State Road 100 near Paran Church Road when the crash occurred. FHP said Wolf was wearing a seat belt.
For unknown reasons, the Escape veered across the eastbound lane and traveled onto the shoulder and collided into a tree. Putnam County Fire Rescue crews pronounced Wolf dead at the scene. The cause of the crash is still under investigation by the FHP.

Crash kills one, injures two
BRADFORD COUNTY – A 46-year-old Keystone Heights man was killed Dec. 14 in a traffic crash on State Road 100 near the intersection of S.E. 75th Street in Bradford County.
The Florida Highway Patrol reports that Andrew M. Garnett was driving a 1992 Ford Ranger eastbound on SR 100 when he traveled onto the shoulder and overturned. The truck came to rest upside down on its roof around 8:20 a.m.
Two passengers – Angela D. Lloyd, 42, and Robert L. Lloyd, 20, also of Keystone Heights – received serious injuries in the accident. They were treated at Shands Hospital in Gainesville.

Train kills rail walker
ORANGE PARK – Authorities report that a 26-year-old Orange Park man died Dec. 13 at 5:22 p.m. while walking on railroad tracks near Wells Road in Orange Park.
The Florida Highway Patrol said Donovan Williams was walking northbound on the railroad tracks when he was struck by an Amtrak passenger train that was also heading northbound.
FHP said in a press release, that “the pedestrian failed to observe the train approaching and never moved off of the tracks.”
He was dead at the scene.

Single vehicle crash kills two

ALACHUA – The Florida Highway Patrol reports that two men died as a result of a one-vehicle traffic accidents Dec. 11 in Alachua County.
FHP said Austin Yarbrough, 21, of Melrose, was driving a 2017 Volkwagen Jetta on County Road 225 near the intersection of 199th Lane when he lost control of the car. The vehicle went onto the north shoulder of the road and hit a culvert.
Momentum caused the Jetta to go airborne and hit a tree. The car then flipped over and landed on its roof.
Passenger Austin Tison, 25, of Starke, died on Monday, December 11 according to FHP.
Yarbrough was transported to UF Health Shands hospital in Gainesville for treatment and died from injuries on Tuesday, Dec. 12.

Sex offer to cop ends in arrest
ORANGE PARK – A woman was arrested in Orange Park after offering more than a massage to an undercover deputy.
The Clay County Sheriff’s Office arrested Chenfang Yu, 39, on Dec. 12 after she offered the undercover officer oral sex following his massage at the Magical Massage location off Kingsley Avenue.
CCSO had received several complaints about the location offering sexual favors to clients, which led to an undercover investigation. After the officer completed his one-hour massage at $70, Yu laid down beside the detective on the massage table and asked if he was interested in sexual intercourse for an additional $200 or oral sex for $150.
The officer agreed to the oral sex and made the motion for the raid. Yu attempted to escape through the backdoor of the business but was caught and arrested.
Yu was transported to the Clay County Jail following her arrest and faces a misdemeanor for soliciting prostitution. She has since been released on bond.

Gunshots result in arrest

ORANGE PARK – A Jacksonville man was arrested after firing a gun in public on the Industrial Loop near Orange Park.
The Clay County Sheriff’s Office arrested Travis Michael Boan, 22, on Dec. 13 after finding him in possession of a handgun that he had just fired in public.
A deputy was near the Industrial Loop area when he heard between 10 and 12 gunshots, according to the police report. He and another deputy began patrolling the area, eventually coming upon an SUV that was driving erratically, and stopped the vehicle. Inside they found two handguns and a small amount of marijuana and spoke with the vehicle’s occupants. Boan was arrested at the scene and transported to the Clay County Jail.
Boan faces a felony for possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and a misdemeanor for discharging a firearm in public. He is being held on about $75,000 and is scheduled to appear in court on Jan. 10.

Undercover drug buy leads to multiple charges
GREEN COVE SPRINGS – An Orange Park man was arrested on three active warrants for allegedly selling illegal drugs to undercover officers in January 2017.
The Clay County Sheriff’s Office booked Torrance Husan Shabazz Jr., 26, after he sold drugs to an undercover officer on three separate occasions in Clay County.
According to the warrants, Shabazz sold MDMA, cocaine, and marijuana to undercover detectives on January 4, 12 and 17, 2017 with three corresponding warrants being issued for his arrest on January 19.
Shabazz faces three felony charges for the sale of narcotics, and is being held on a combined total of about $150,000 bond. He is set to appear in court on Jan. 3.
