CCSO: Oakleaf man shot during argument with roommate

 

OAKLEAF – A man was arrested after another man was shot in the leg during an argument on Nov. 23.

Kendric Lawrence Johnson, 27, was charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon after Clay County Sheriff’s Office deputies said Taalib-Din Smith suffered a “through-and-through” wound to his left thigh.

Deputies found a spent .556-caliber rifle shell in the driveway, a few feet from where Smith, Johnson’s roommate, apparently was shot. Smith drove himself to the Park West Emergency Room, but immediately transferred to Orange Park Medical Center.

Johnson was arrested a short time later. Deputies said he had a rifle on the passenger seat.

Kendric was booked into the Clay County Jail with a bond of $100,003.

 

Man charged with using social media to solicit 13-year for sex

 

MIDDLEBURG – A man was caught luring a 13-year-old girl for sex through his Facebook account and text messages, the Clay County Sheriff’s Office said.

Terrence Drew McKeen, 32, was charged with lewd and lascivious molestation and soliciting a child for unlawful sexual contact while using a computer.

Once deputies were alerted to the contact between McKeen and the victim, they set up a controlled call from the victim. The arrest affidavit stated they talked about previous encounters.

McKeen was being held at the Clay County Jail with a $150,006 bond.

 

Orange Park woman accused to exploiting elderly man

 

ORANGE PARK – Clay County Sheriff’s Office deputies tracked down and arrested a woman on Nov. 22 they suspected of taking advantage of an elderly man for $119,146 during the past four years.

Megan Holly Mclain, 34, of Orange Park, was charged with exploitation of an elderly person of more than $50,000.

The victim’s daughter reported the missing money to CCSO and a warrant was issued for her arrest on Nov. 18.

Mclain was jailed with a $75,003 bond.

 

Couple try to walk away with shoplifted clothes, shoes

 

FLEMING ISLAND – A Jacksonville couple were charged with trying to walk out of Kohl’s with a pair of shoplifted shoes.

Steven Doyle Hall, 40, and Carly Renae Greenewalt, 44, were seen on Nov. 22 by a store detective putting items in a bag and trying to leave the store without paying. Included in the items, were a pair of shoes Hall was wearing.

According to the arrest report, deputies also found Hall with oxycodone, drug paraphernalia, cocaine and methamphetamine.

Greenewalt was charged because store and sheriff’s office officials said she removed clothes from their original packaging and returned the clothes before leaving the store. When she removed the original packaging, Kohl’s was prohibited from selling the items.

 

Orange Park woman killed on I-295 in motorcycle crash

 

JACKSONVILLE – A 46-year-old Orange Park woman riding as a passenger on a motorcycle was killed Nov. 20 when it struck the back of a slowing car in traffic on Interstate 295.

Karen Moody died when the motorcycle, being driven by Samuel Greer, 52, of Middleburg, struck the back of a Nissan driven by a Jacksonville woman as northbound traffic slowed near 103rd street, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

Both Moody and Greer were thrown forward at impact, with Moody being struck again by the Nissan after she landed ahead of the car.
