Keystone man arrested
following rash of break-ins
GREEN COVE SPRINGS – A 26-year-old man was in the Clay County Jail following a rash of car and home break-ins in Green Cove Springs.
Jimmy Joe Lawrence Dales, of Keystone Heights, was charged with seven counts of burglary and one count each of armed burglary, grand theft, dealing in stolen property and giving false information to a pawn broker. His bond was set at $215,033.
Deputies with the Clay County Sheriff’s Office were called to a home near Clay High on Oct. 30 after a couple found their cars and home had been robbed while they were asleep.
Deputies then were called to another home in Green Cove Springs on Nov. 2 after two residents said their cars were broken into. Some of the items reported missing included a debit card, shotgun, ammunition, duffle bag of clothes and COVID facemasks.
The stolen debit card was used at the Circle K station at 2000 State Road 16 in Green Cove Springs and Dales was seen on surveillance using the card. When deputies located Dales, they found many of the stolen items in his car.
Man charged with DUI after drinking beer in drive-thru line
ORANGE PARK – A man was reported for sitting in a fast-food drive-thru with an opened can of beer, and that led to a DUI charge and the recovery of three controlled substances without a prescription on Nov. 5.
Bobby Plaze Wilson Jr., 24, of Orange Park, was charged with DUI, driving with a suspended license and three counts of drug possession on Nov. 5.
According to the arrest report, Wilson was caught with the beer as he tried to leave the restaurant parking lot.
According to court documents, Wilson also was arrested on Oct. 29 for driving with a suspended license.
CCSO: Man jailed for pointing gun, choking woman, her son
ORANGE PARK – A man was arrested after the Clay County Sheriff’s Office found a woman hiding in a locked bathroom during a domestic dispute.
Kenneth Todd Owens, 45, of Orange Park, was charged on Nov. 3 with felony domestic battery by strangulation, aggravated assault, simple battery and possession of a firearm or ammo by a convicted felon.
Deputies responded to a call saying a woman and a teen-aged boy were being assaulted by Owens, according to the arrest report. Owens pressed a handgun against the boys’ head. The boy managed to escape and call CCSO.
Owens turned his aggression toward his girlfriend, CCSO said. He attempted to strangle her, slapped her in the head and pointed the gun at her. She armed herself with a handgun and barricaded herself in the bathroom until deputies arrived.
Bond was set at $100,011.
