Traffic stop leads to drug possession arrest
ORANGE PARK - A Fort White woman is accused of possessing cocaine, methamphetamine and heroin.
Alexis Jane Adams, 25, was arrested Monday at about 9:45 p.m., after a deputy noticed an equipment violation on the vehicle she was a passenger in, a CCSO report said.
The deputy said he detected an odor in the vehicle and found .8 grams of marijuana in a cigarillo. The report said deputies then seized a gram of heroin, .8 grams of methamphetamine and .3 grams of cocaine in a cigarette carton.
The report said Adams was transported to Clay County Jail. The suspect posted bail on an undisclosed amount.

Woman arrested for filing a false report

JACKSONVILLE– A Jacksonville woman in Duval County Jail was arrested on an active Clay County warrant on charges of falsely reporting a crime, uttering a forged check, criminal use of ID and fraudulent use of a credit card.
A warrant was issued for the arrest of Tiffany Nicole Lowry, 31, by CCSO in March. The victim noticed three withdrawals from her bank account for about $400 worth of checks. When questioned in December, Lowry allegedly told deputies an unknown suspect forged a check.
“My investigation has determined that the defendant deposited the checks and knowingly filed a false report of crime,” an investigator said.
The affidavit said Lowry’s last known address was in Middleburg. She was arrested Feb. 10 in Jacksonville on a burglary charge.
Lowry was extradited to Clay County Jail last Wednesday. Her bond was set at $15,013.

Palatka woman charged with DUI
GREEN COVE SPRINGS - A Palatka woman was charged with driving under the influence after she was seen driving erratically Sunday morning.
Devonia Lashea Wright, 33, was arrested on the 3000 block of U.S. Highway 17 at 1:57 A.M. after failing a field sobriety test.
According to the arrest report, a Clay County Sheriff’s Office deputy observed a black Chevy Camaro that Wright was driving making erratic movements. Wright was moving in and out of lanes and not correctly using her turn signals.
Wright was pulled over, exited her vehicle and was argumentative with the deputy while he was explaining the reason for the stop, the report said. After multiple attempts, Wright agreed to perform a field sobriety test.
During the test, Wright was observed swaying and failing to keep her balance. Wright was arrested and transported to the Clay County Jail after failing the sobriety test.
At press time, Wright was free on bond.

Orange Park man faces grand theft auto charges
ORANGE PARK - An Orange Park man is charged with grand theft auto and accusing of stealing a vehicle from a friend.
Walter Lee Jones, 39, was arrested after he attempted to sell a vehicle that he allegedly stole from a friend.
According to the arrest report, Clay County Sheriff’s Office was contacted by the victim about her car being stolen from her home. The victim told the responding officer that she suspected Jones of being behind the theft.
Later in the day, the victim again contacted the Clay County Sheriff’s Office stating that Jones was attempting to sell her car.
Jones was found at a business on the 1000 block of Blanding Boulevard. As he was approached by the deputy Jones entered the business then attempted to leave through a side door.
After speaking with Jones and witnesses at the business, Jones was arrested for grand theft auto and transported to the Clay County jail.
At press time, Jones was being held on a $50,003 bond.

Man charged with domestic battery on a pregnant woman
MIDDLEBURG - A Middleburg man was charged with aggravated domestic battery after an argument turned into a domestic confrontation Sunday.
Lance Austin Braswell, 19, was arrested at the 4000 block of Banks Road after he attempted to stop his pregnant girlfriend from leaving their home, according to the arrest report.
CCSO deputies were dispatched to the home in response to a domestic battery call. Upon arrival, deputies could hear Braswell and the victim arguing in the house, the report said.
After separating the two parties, deputies spoke with the victim and participated in a victim lethality assessment. After speaking with Braswell as well as a witness, it was determined that Braswell was the primary aggressor.
Braswell was arrested and charged with aggravated domestic battery and transported to the Clay County Jail. At press time, Braswell was free on bond.

Stolen auto invloved in trafiic accident, man charged
A Jacksonville man was charged with grand theft auto after a stolen vehicle he was driving was involved in an accident.
Jason Stewart Dow, 25, was arrested in St. Johns County when he was involved in a traffic accident. It was later found that the vehicle he was driving was reported stolen.
According to the arrest warrant, on Aug. 11, the victim contacted the Clay County Sheriff’s Office to report his vehicle had been stolen. The victim stated that Dow came to his home and when the victim left the room and came back, he noticed that both his keys and his car were missing.
On Aug. 18, the victim’s vehicle driven by Dow was involved a traffic accident. After inspection, it was revealed that the tag on the vehicle was not registered to the victim’s vehicle but was one that had been reported stolen but belonged to a vehicle that was the same color and make of the vehicle.
Dow was extradited from the St. Johns County Jail to the Clay County Jail and is charged with grand theft auto.
At press time, Dow was being held on $15,003 bond.


Tool theft leads to arrest

An Orange Park man is accused of stealing tools from an acquaintance and giving them to another person.
Christopher Shaun Miles, 40, is charged with grand theft and dealing in stolen property.
According to a CCSO arrest warrant, Miles came to the home of the victim on July 18 and allegedly took several tools that belonged to the victim.
The tools included two power drills, extra batteries and drill bits that the victim valued at $350. Miles then allegedly gave the tools to another person.
Miles was extradited from the Duval County Jail to the Clay County Jail. At press time, Miles is being held on $25,006 bond.
