Cracked windshield leads to arrest of wanted man
ORANGE PARK – A passenger in a car that was stopped for a cracked windshield was arrested on July 23 on an outstanding warrant for assault during a burglary.
Randy Watson Moody, who told Clay County Sheriff’s Office deputies he was homeless and from Jacksonville, was taken to the Clay County Jail, where he is being held without bond.
Moody originally was arrested on Sept. 15 last year following an assault that occurred on Fleming Island.

Traffic stop leads to arrest of man wanted since October
ORANGE PARK – A man wanted since October for selling an “8-ball” of fentanyl to a confidential source was caught on July 26 by the Clay County Sheriff’s Office.
Daniel Wayne Ellison Jr., 41, of Middleburg, was charged with sale and delivery of fentanyl and using a cellphone to facilitate a felony. His bond was set at $85,006.
According to the arrest report, Ellison was pulled over for a routine traffic stop. Ellison was a passenger and deputies were alerted of the outstanding warrant when they checked his identification.

CCSO’s ‘Talking for a Change’ scheduled for Tuesday night
GREEN COVE SPRINGS – Clay County Sheriff Darryl Daniels announced his agency’s second Talking For A Change event to be held in early August.
Everyone who is interested, from community members to public officials, is welcome to come to the CCSO’s second Talking For A Change open forum discussion on Tuesday, Aug. 4, at the Dye Clay Family YMCA at 3322 Moody Ave, Orange Park.
The event will start at 6:30 p.m. Like the last event in June, there will be an open forum to discuss how law enforcement can bridge the gap so every American feels safe and to build better community relationships. Through organized discussion, the agency hopes together it can find solutions that it, as an agency, can present at the national level through a planned presentation at the next National Sheriff’s Association conference.
Attendees will practice social distancing and CCSO encourage everyone to wear masks. We’ll also provide masks. You don’t have to register - just come with a voice, a solution, and hopefully together, change can be made.
