Man claiming to be David White’s killer threatens CCSO

ORANGE PARK – A man claiming to be the brother of the man who shot and killed Clay County Sheriff’s Office detective David White was charged with threatening to shoot a Clay County Sheriff’s Office deputy at the jail after he was arrested for simple domestic battery.
Todd Allen Tilley, 42, of Orange Park, was charged with corruption by threatening a public servant when he told the arresting officer he would “put a bullet in your [bleeping] forehead just like my brother did to David White, that’s a guarantee.”
White was shot and killed by Ted Tilley during a drug raid at a Middleburg mobile home in 2012. Tilley was killed during the exchange of gunfire by other deputies.
Four other people, Ryan Christopher Wilder, Chasity E. Prescott, Jennifer S. Alder and Jerry Daniels all were charged with murder.
CCSO deputies were called on June 20 for a domestic disturbance. Tilley and his wife were arguing over him drinking too much alcohol, according to the arrest report.
The victim said she was struck during the argument. Deputies said she had a red mark on the left side of her face, so Tilley was arrested.
His threatened the arresting officer has he was being placed into a holding cell, CCSO said.
His bond was set at $27,505.

Man surrenders at InTown Suites following SWAT standoff

ORANGE PARK – A man wanted for making written threats to hurt someone was arrested June 23 following a short standoff with the Clay County Sheriff’s Office SWAT team at InTown Suites on Blanding Boulevard
Daniel Holtzander eventually surrendered without incident after he was holed up into his room with his child.
He was wanted in Jacksonville for simple assault and intimidation by sending threats.
Deputies got a tip Holtzlander was in Orange Park. When they got to the hotel, a roommate left the room and told CCSO Holtzlander had his child with him in the room.
Residents of the hotel were evacuated and SWAT set up a perimeter. Holtzlander eventually talked to a negotiator and gave up.
He was in the Clay County Jail without bond.

Man arrested for shooting at ‘gang’ members from car

ORANGE PARK – A Jacksonville man was arrested for firing a pistol from his car on June 18 after he said he was defending himself from “gang members” in an SUV while driving along Crossing Boulevard.
Roderick Monques Brown, 38, was charged with discharging a firearm from a vehicle within 1,000 feet from other people and firing a gun while under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
According to the Clay County Sheriff’s Office, Brown continued to walk away after deputies were called for shots being fired. He walked behind an apartment and apparently threw his 9mm pistol behind an apartment before being detained. Deputies found spent shell casings inside his car and on the ground where the shooting was reported.
Bond was set at $85,005.

Broken windshield leads to arrest for drugs, gun

ORANGE PARK – A broken windshield led to a traffic stop and the discovery of illegal drugs and a firearm on June 20 on Wells Road.
Keith Lamar Rowell, 42, of Green Cove Springs, was charged with carrying a concealed weapon, altering a firearm and possession of drug paraphernalia after K-9 Ory alerted deputies to the presence to possible drugs.
When Rowell was removed from the car, deputies removed a loaded handgun from his waistband. The serial number had been removed from the gun, CCSO said.
They also recovered methamphetamine, marijuana and scale during the search.

Man caught writing checks from sick woman’s account

KEYSTONE HEIGHTS – A Hawthorne man was arrested for trying to cash checks from an account belonging to a woman who was in the hospital.
Brent Robert Minkey, 40, was charged with uttering a forged instrument after his friend said her mother’s bank notified her someone was trying to deposit one of her checks into his account.
The check for $375 was made payable to Brent Minkey, the Clay County Sheriff’s Office said.

Man busted for buying cigar with fake $20 bill

KEYSTONE HEIGHTS – A local man was charged with trying to buy a cigar with a fake $20 bill.
Alexander Gordon Cardenas, 58, of Keystone Heights, was charged June 21 with uttering a forged instrument after he tried to make a $2.97 purchase at a convenience store.
The Clay County Sheriff’s Office found Cardenas sitting in a SUV beside the business. The passenger was Brent Minkey, who was charged with writing checks from a woman’s account while she was in the hospital.
