Attempted murder charges for man trying to steal skateboard

ORANGE PARK – A Jacksonville man was arrested and charged with attempted murder and he reportedly beat a man with his fist and a skateboard before stabbing him four times as they walked on the sidewalk March 28 on Blanding Boulevard.
Tashan Bruce Floyd, 29, was charged with attempted murder and resisting arrest. He remained in the Clay County Jail without bond.
According to the arrest report, Floyd and the victim argued when Floyd tried to steal the victim’s skateboard. Witnesses said Floyd punched the man and knocked him to the pavement. He then used the victim’s skateboard as a club before stabbing him in the head four times, the Clay County Sheriff’s Office said.
Witnesses also said Floyd waved the knife so they could see it and not intervene.
Floyd ran from the scene but eventually was tracked down by K-9 Cash to 130 Woodside Dr. Deputies found Floyd hiding in a dumpster. They also recovered a blood-stained knife.
Floyd’s next court appearance is May 5.

Convicted man jailed for having gun, crashing into CCSO car

ORANGE PARK – A man was booked into the Clay County Jail March 28 after he attempted to run from police after brandishing a handgun.
Devone Marquise Weatherspoon, 32, was charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession of marijuana and attempting to elude police after Clay County Sheriff’s Office deputies were called about a man pointing gun. Weatherspoon tried to outrun deputies in and around the Tanglewood Athletic Association Park area before they were able to capture him on Jefferson Street after he ran into one of the police cruisers.
His bond was set at $41,008.

Woman arrested for drugs during routine traffic stop

MIDDLEBURG – A woman was charged with possession of methamphetamine, Xanax and drug paraphernalia, as well as driving with a suspended license, after Clay County Sheriff’s Office deputies saw her cutting through a convenience store parking lot.
Jennifer Renee Worrell, 36, was stopped after a deputy learned the owner of the car had a suspended license. The deputy then saw marijuana laying on the passenger seat during the traffic stop, which led to finding other drugs during a search.

Three Middleburg teens hurt when their ATVs crash

MIDDLEBURG – Three children were seriously injured March 30 when their ATVs crashed on Live Oak Lane.
Ashlyn Macomber, 15, was taken to Orange Park Medical Center with serious injuries after her Artic ATV ran off the road and overturned when she tried to regain control. A second ATV with Eric Padgett, 14, and Alexander Cain, 14, crashed while trying to avoid Macomber’s accident. Both boys were taken in Wolfson’s Children’s Hospital in Jacksonville with critical injuries.
All three teens were from Middleburg.
Charges are pending, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
