GCS car repair shop shut down following drug raid

GREEN COVE SPRINGS – The Clay County Sheriff’s Office shut down a business on Feb. 11 where it believed the owner was doing more than changing oil and doing tuneups.
Peter Dellapenna, 56, of Green Cove Springs, was charged with selling and delivering methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia following a raid by the Organized Crime Unit and SWAT teams at 4251 Rowell Road.
The Sheriff’s Office tacked on an additional charge on Feb. 13 of selling $85 worth of methamphetamine to a confidential informant on Jan. 20.
A customer, Codie Nicole Martin, 34, of Orange Park, was arrested and charged with possession of drug paraphernalia. A day later, CCSO added additional charges of possessing drug paraphernalia and a controlled substance.
A search resulted in the seizure of 11.7 grams of methamphetamine in an office drawer, as well as marijuana, an empty bag with Fentanyl residue and a scale.
Dellapenna’s bond was set at $166,011. Martin’s was set at $27,505.

Man arrested for posting child pornography on Facebook

OAKLEAF – The Clay County Sheriff’s Office was alerted of a man who reportedly uploaded a child pornography video to Facebook.
Chet Silvester Harris, 30, of Orange Park, was charged with two counts of possessing, controlling and viewing child pornography and one count of transmitting child pornography On Feb. 13.
CCSO’s Internet Crimes Against Children Unit served a warrant on Harris after it received a cyber tip from Facebook. K-9 Ty sniffed out the suspected electronic devices.

CCSO finds wanted man already in Clay County Jail

ORANGE PARK – Sheriff’s Office deputies didn’t have to look far to arrest a man who they said bought crack cocaine from a confidential informant.
Clay Russell Coates, 33, of Middleburg, already was in the Clay County Jail following a police chase on Feb. 3 when he was charged with two counts of selling and distributing crack cocaine.
According to the arrest report, the informant set up a drug buy with Coates on Sept. 19, 2019. Coates was served with a new warrant on Feb. 7 while he was already jailed for resisting arrest, attempting to elude police and riding a motorcycle without a driver’s license. His bond was set at $77,511.

Sexual predator, 19, caught trying to entice child

ORANGE PARK – A 19-year-old sexual predator was arrested Feb. 11 for trying to entice a 14-year-old child for sex and for sending lewd photos of himself.
Zaiden M. Morford, of Middleburg, also was charged with failing to register his new address or identifying his internet and email addresses, as well as other social media accounts to authorities.
Morford originally was found guilty of sexual assault in 2016 and was required to register as a sexual offender. He didn’t report his move from Clay County to Jacksonville, which prompted the Clay County Sheriff’s Office to launch an investigation on him nearly five months ago. Deputies ordered him to register on Feb. 6 and Feb. 10, but Morford didn’t comply so he was arrested.
Authorities then found he had been using the internet to try to entice a 14-year-old child for sex, as well as sending the child lewd pictures of himself.
Morford’s bond was set at $400,012.

CCSO: Drunk woman caught five times over legal limit

FLEMING ISLAND – A woman whose blood alcohol was tested at five-times the legal limit was arrested for driving under the influence with two children in the car.
Amanda Jolene Bailey, 32, of Middleburg was incoherent when Clay County Sheriff’s Office deputies found her sitting in her car on Portside Drive. She stumbled and fell while trying to get out of her car, according to the arrest report.
Her blood alcohol level was measured at .421 in one test and .408 in a second. She was taken from the Clay County Jail to the hospital for an examination because her level was so high.
