ORANGE PARK – A 33-year-old Middleburg man was charged with driving under the influence Wednesday night after he plowed his pickup truck through the showroom of Old Time Pottery at 380 Blanding Blvd.
Ricky Bruce Evans was charged with DUI with property damage after witnesses said they saw him driving at a high rate of speed on Loch Rane Boulevard before he crossed the concrete median into oncoming traffic, eventually stopping after he crashed into the store. He was arrested after he failed a field sobriety test.
His blood alcohol level was measured at .171 – more than twice the legal limit of .08 – following two tests.
Nobody was injured and the store’s security system captured the crash on video.
