Faith walk: Overflow

This is a good time to reflect on God’s giving. God is the greatest Giver! He proved it when He gave His Son for us. We are overflowing with His gifts.

In the best known of all the Psalms, the 23rd, the writer says, “My cup runneth over.” In the NLT version, it is stated this way: “My cup overflows with blessings.”

Overflow speaks of the abundance of His blessings. Blessings are overflowing every “container” we have in our lives. We do not have enough room to contain all the favor that our Lord showers upon us.

One of the greatest reasons God pours blessings upon us is for us to be able to bless others. God blesses us so we can share with others.

The more we give to others the more room we have for God to continue to pour His blessings on us. In other words, if you keep all that God provides for you there will be no room for the Lord to give you more! This is the time for us to give as God gives to us.

If we keep all God gives us, the content of our “cup” becomes stagnant. When we overflow, all those around us are blessed.

God blesses us so we can bless others! Our desire for the blessings of God should be so we can share the blessings. The more we give, the more God gives to us. That’s why God gives us an overflow.

Fill my cup, Lord, so I will have blessings to distribute to others. My desire to receive is so that I can give!

The more your cup is filled, the more you can do for God. If there is an overflow in your own life, you have abundance to share and bless others. The more you give to others, the more God will give to you. (Luke 6:37)

Become a giver as God has given to you.
