Ruth (Lokey) Downing
Ruth (Lokey) Downing, age 88, passed following a short illness on Thursday December 3, 2020.
Born June 2, 1932 in Albany Georgia, she was the second of seven children by Felton & Mary Lokey. Ruth was married to Alex (Neal) Downing for 49 years prior to his passing in 2001.
As a devoted Navy wife, she raised four sons and has resided in Green Cove springs since 1957. During her early years Ruth worked in cotton mills in Georgia and Burlington in Green Cove Springs.
In 1973 she acquired her licensed practical nursing credentials and continued in that profession working for Clay Memorial and Moosehaven until retirement.Ruth loved her Lord and Savior and was a member of Lake Asbury Baptist Church in Green Cove Springs, Florida.
While our loss is heaven’s gain she will truly be missed until we see her again. She loved life enjoyed shopping, spending time with family, traveling, eating out and anything pink, her favorite color.
Ruth is preceded in death by her parents, husband, sister Juanita Courson and brothers Horace Lokey and Terry Lokey.
She is survived by her sons Mickey Downing (Linda), Tony Downing (Patricia), Gary Downing (June) and Tim Downing (Theresa); grandchildren Josh Downing (Tori), Hunter Downing (Lianne), Callie Downing, and Michael Downing; great-grandchildren Hudson Downing and Mason Hartwell; sisters Nellie Stokes (Albert) and Frances Jones; brother Ken ‘K.L.’ Lokey (Earlene); sisters-in-law Bobbie Lokey & Phyllis Lokey, along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
The family will receive friends Friday, December 11, 2020 at 10:00 am at Lake Asbury Baptist Church. Funeral services will be Friday, December 11, 2020 at 11:00am with Rev. Matt Swain and Rev. Tim Downing officiating. A short interment service will follow at 3:00pm at Sunset Hill Cemetery in Valdosta, GA with Dr. Jimmy Deas officiating.

Chad Allen Williams
Chad Allen Williams, 47, of Green Cove Springs, Florida passed away Thursday, December 3, 2020 in Orange Park, Florida.
He was born on March 20, 1973 in Lake City, Florida, and after graduating high school attended The University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa, Alabama.
Chad started his 28-year dedication with the Clay County Board of County Commissioners in the Public Works Department and held a variety of positions in multiple departments throughout these years, the last of which was the position of Zoning Chief in the Planning & Zoning Division.
His commitment to and unparalleled knowledge of Clay County helped shape its growth and development. He enjoyed sports but had a love for baseball that started with little league at an early age and continued through high school and his early adult life.
His dedication to football started at the age of 3, as a devoted fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers, and transitioned to an avid college football fan following the one true team…Roll Tide! Chad’s allegiance to The University of Alabama was in a class of its own and known by all. Chad’s quick wit and sense of humor were constants in his life to all who knew him and will forever be remembered. He had a love for cooking and entertaining and was well known for a variety of dishes, but especially crab cakes, green beans and mac ‘n’ cheese, which will be missed by all.
He was preceded in death by his dad William “Bill” Knowles, his grandmother Esther Williams, his great uncle and aunt Reid “Pop” and Reba “Granny” Wager, whom he considered grandparents, and grandparents Buck “Papa” and Frances B. “Granny” Knowles.
Chad is survived by his wife of 15 years, L. Cheree Williams of Green Cove Springs, mother Frances M. Knowles of Green Cove Springs, sisters Shana Jundt (Mike) of Green Cove Springs and Luetta Graham (Charley) of Neptune Beach, a godson and numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, December 12, in the Broadus-Raines Chapel located at 501 Spring Street, Green Cove Springs, Florida. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in memory of Chad Williams to Haven Hospice located at 745 Blanding Boulevard, Orange Park, Florida or Community Hospice located at 4266 Sunbeam Road, Jacksonville, Florida.

Louie Edwin Ivey, Jr.
Louie Edwin Ivey Jr., 67 years old, of Green Cove Springs, Florida, passed away on Friday, December 4th at 1:59pm.
He was born to Olive Buckner and Louie Ivey Sr. on July 13, 1953 in Orange Park, Florida. He graduated Clay High School in 1972 and married Sandra Looney on November 23, 1979.
Louie was an honorable Christian and attended the Congregational Holiness Church. He was a loyal husband, father, and devout friend.
Louie will be remembered for his love of adventure and trying new things. He had an avid love for space and NASA.
One of which we will never forget is the love he had for his bees. He enjoyed learning new things and taught himself, and his family, how to hunt, mine for gold, weightlifting and how to ride a motorcycle, but, at the end of the day, you’d always find Louie relaxing in his recliner watching TV.
Louie is survived by his father Louie Ivey Sr., wife Sandra Ivey, daughter Jennifer Ivey, stepson Chris Baird, grandchildren Valauna Ivey and Troy Weller.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, December 14, 2020 in the Congregational Holiness Church, 2079 State Road 16, Green Cove Springs, FL with Rev. Ronnie Surrency officiating. The family will receive friends in the church from 10:00 am until service time.
