India Shiel Baker
India Shiel Baker, former resident of Green Cove Springs, gave up her struggle with dementia on Dec. 6, 2017 at 95 years of age. India was born and raised in Wesson, Mississippi, She retired as the assistant personnel manager for the Navy Exchange in Jacksonville, Fla. after 22 years. She is preceded in death by her 8 siblings, her daughter Joane Baker, her son Buck Baker and her husband Sam Baker. She is survived by one daughter Diane Baker Simmons, 3 grandchildren: Danielle Baker, Scott Simmons, Kacey Simmons, 5 great grandchildren: Hannah Scarberry, Zach Scarberry, Gabe Border, Silas Morter, Myra Simmons and 1 great great grandchild: Stella Todd.

Mildred Eunice Padgett (Roberts)
Mildred Eunice Padgett (Roberts), age 83 passed away Jan. 1, 2018. She was a life long resident of Clay County, born in Green Cove Springs then moving to Middleburg where she met Charlie Padgett and married July 1, 1950. They had a simple life for 61 years but none less grand as love makes a special bond. Frequently they would be seen together walking Everett Avenue and Main Street hand in hand, Charlie with his white hat and Mildred with her visor. Mildred was a member of Black Pond Baptist Church. Predeceased by husband Charlie and is survived by 2 sons, Roger Padgett (Patty), Travis Padgett (Jan) ,2 daughters Velva Chapman (Dennis), Tina Jolley. Also survived by a brother C.L. Frisbee (Linda). She was blessed with 7 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and 8 great-great grandchildren. Family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Thursday at Hardage Giddens- Holly Hill Funeral Home, 3601 Old Jennings Rd, Middleburg FL. Graveside services will be held 11 a.m. Friday January 5, 2018 at Padgett Cemetery, 4500 Hattie Nolan Rd, Middleburg, FL with Pastor Charlie Hunt of Black Pond Baptist Church officiating. Laura Lynn Hickox
Laura Lynn Hickox, 56 of Jacksonville, passed away Saturday (Dec. 30, 2017) at Orange Park Medical Center following an extended illness. Born in Jacksonville, Fla., her parents are the late Benjamin Franklin Hickox and Peggy Hutson Hickox, of Jacksonville. Along with her father she was preceded in death by two brothers, Marshall Hickox and Kevin Hickox; and her nephew, Cody Hickox.
Laura worked many years as a Hospital registration specialist, and was a member of New Mount Zion Church in Jacksonville, Fla. She loved the Lord and her family, and also enjoyed gardening, yard sales, and taking care of her cats. Survivors include her mother, Peggy Hickox, of Jacksonville; 5 brothers, Maxie Hickox, of Lawtey, FL., Victor Hickox, of Clay Hill, FL., Glenn Hickox, of Denver, CO., Richard Hickox, of Clay Hill, FL, and Johnny Hickox, of Middleburg, FL. Also several nieces, nephews, and other relatives. Funeral Services will be held Friday (Jan. 5, 2018) at 12 p.m. at Frye Funeral Home with Rev. Gene Dillon officiating. Visitation will be held an hour prior to the service. Burial will follow in New Hope Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Maxie Hickox, Richard Hickox, Johnny Hickox, Johnny Hickox, II, Chad Hickox, Corey Hickox, and Jamie Potwin. Arrangements are with Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta.
