Margaret Lois Moody Powell Savard
Margaret Lois Moody Powell Savard, passed away August 16, 2018. She was born on March 27, 1922 in Middleburg, Fla. to Ben J. Moody and Allie Smith Moody, a pioneer family of Clay County. She was predeceased by sisters; Vera Moody Gravely (James), Alva Moody Todd (Dinah), Christine Moody Wilson (Luther, better known as “ Cooter”), Mildred Moody Revels (Clayton), niece Merle Gravely Gerhardt and nephews, Randy Todd, Gregory Todd and Jeffrey Beck.
Shortly after graduating from Clay High School, Margaret married Harry Powell of Jacksonville, Fla.a.orida. Margaret received much recognition as an outstanding athlete and scholar. She was artistically gifted, enjoyed creating art, ceramics and working in her garden her whole life. She was a wonderful Christian woman serving in churches wherever she lived. Her husband Harry worked in the steel business and they travelled to exciting places like New York, New Jersey, Walt Disney World and Cape Kennedy. Margaret worked in professional offices while Harry worked in construction. When Harry and Margaret retired, they lived in Christmas, Fla.a.a. where she operated a ceramics business for many years. Margaret is survived by her sister, LaVonne Beck, nieces, Bettye Gravely McKinley, Rhonda Revels Brown, Trina Revels Baker (Rick), Gwen Beck Spear, nephews, Millard Todd, Douglas Beck (Sandy), Gordon Beck (Gail), Max Wilson and Dale Wilson (Pam).
After Harry’s death, Margaret remarried Donat “Frenchie” Savard. Frenchie and Margaret shared several wonderful married years until his passing. Margaret was a sweet, cheerful person who looked forward to being with her Lord. She is now with God in Heaven.
Funeral Service were at 11 a.m. Wednesday Aug. 22, 2018 with 1 hour prior visitation at Hardage Giddens Rivermead Funeral Home, 127 Blanding Blvd Orange Park, Fla. 32073.
