Jesse Godbold, our beloved husband, father and grandfather died on Wednesday July 31 at St. Vincent’s Hospital Clay County after a long illness.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years Jeanie, son Tommy, grandchildren Hunter and Hanna, sisters Shirley Rhoden, Vonnie Baker and Wanda Ward.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two infant sons and a daughter Stephanie Wilson. He was born on March 17, 1940 on a farm in Suwanee County Florida near Wellborn.
He and his wife Jeanie were married in 1962 and lived in Gainesville until his graduation.
In January 1971 he transferred to Green Cove Springs as the Clay County Agricultural Extension Director. For the next 25 years he continued in a job that he loved.
He retired early to help take care of his daughter Stephanie as she battled brain cancer. He cared for her until her death in October 1999.
He was called back to work for a short time as interim Agricultural Agent then worked for the St Johns Water Management District and then with the Clay County Property Appraisers Office.
In 2012 one of the greatest tributes of his career was the naming of the T. Jesse Godbold, Sr. Extension Education Center.
His high school FFA Jacket is one of only five in the Smithsonian Institution Museum of Natural History in Washington D.C.
He lived his life with a strong faith in God and a deep love for his family and friends. He will always be remembered for his kindness and willingness to help others.

Evelyn Elvira Hill
Evelyn Elvira Hill, 92, of Middleburg, Fla., went to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, Aug. 4 at her home surrounded by her loving family.
Mrs. Hill was born June 24, 1927 in Bessemer, Ala., to the late Floyd William and Lillian Griffin Goodwin. She was a member of the Cinnamon Street Baptist Church in Middleburg and was the manager of the Pic ‘N Save Cafeteria in Orange Park for many years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Dewey Hill in 1992 and her daughters, Linda Faye Belnap and Mary Evelyn Hill.
She is survived by her daughters, Patricia Gayle Jackson of Middleburg, Rhonda Jo Reilly of St. Augustine, and Sheila Annette Pruitt of Middleburg; 7 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren; and her sister Mary Francis Darnell of Alabama.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday at Jacksonville Memory Gardens Funeral Home with Robert Grinder officiating. Burial will follow in Jacksonville Memory Gardens Cemetery.

Thomas Hanna

Thomas Hanna, 69, of Newnan, Georgia passed away on July 30, 2019 from complications due to metastatic papillary thyroid cancer. He was born September 22, 1949 in Buffalo, New York to Harry and Beatrice Hanna. Tom grew up in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, graduated from Fort Lauderdale High School, and proudly served in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam War. Tom was always helping others, and his family and friends will surely miss him. 

Tom is survived by his wife, Laura Williams Hanna (Clay High Class of 1979), daughter Claire, his father, Harry Hanna, and his sister, Cheryl Hanna Robinson (Bob). His mother and father in law are Betty Williams and the late W.C “Bill” Williams of Green Cove Springs.  Tom enjoyed the St. Johns River and the time he spent in the Clay county area over the years.

 Donations can be made in Tom's memory to Wreaths Across America, your local humane society, or Seamark Ranch, Green Cove Springs, Florida. Online condolences can be expressed at higginsfuneralhomes.com.   The memorial service for Tom will be August 14, 2019 at 2pm at the National Cemetery, Canton, Georgia. Laura and Claire wish to thank the fine doctors and staff at Emory University Winship Cancer Institute, Atlanta, Georgia and M.D. Anderson Cancer Center, Houston, Texas for providing Tom with compassionate care.
