David Alan Luke
David Alan Luke, of Middleburg, went to be with the LORD on July, 23, 2021, at the age of 66. He was a devoted son, husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. David was a, nearly, lifelong resident of Clay County.
He spent his career around the area’s waterways building docks and bulkheads. Most importantly, he had a passionate heart for Jesus, and was always willing to share his relationship with his Savior with anyone who asked. He is survived by his wife Toni, mother Anne, his sister Sandra, and his brothers Joey and Sam. In addition, he leaves a legacy that includes his 5 children: Nick, Anthony, Chris, Jenneffer, and Kim, their spouses: Heather Stacy, Rebecca, Patrick, and Daniel.
That legacy further includes 15 grandchildren: Nathan, Taylor, Alexia, Zachary, Seth, Desire’, Evan, Eva, Lily, Haylie, Josiah, Alex, Phoenix, Lucian and Joey and 2 great grandchildren: Chase and Everly. While he is already dearly missed, we take great comfort that he is with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, and that this is not “goodbye,” it is simply “until we meet again.”

Mr. Dickson was born on February, 20, 1935 in Jacksonville, Florida. He remained in the greater Jacksonville area until the early 1960s when he moved his family to Clay County. Clay County became his home. Wally raised his family in Clay County and was a very involved member of the community and an advocate for children’s sports.
He is preceded in death by two brothers, James L. Dickson and Edwin Dickson. All three brothers bravely served as United States Marines. He is survived by his wife, Pauline L. Dickson, his children, W. Keith Dickson (Laura), Mark Dickson (Valerie), Don Dickson, Sherry Miller (Jeff), Candace Wilson (Bob), Curtis Wells (Karen), Craig Wells (Galianna),13 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren, his sisters, Margaret Kelly and Rachel Mathis.
Wally entered the United States Marine Corp on February 25, 1952 at the age of 17 and served for three years. During active duty he was promoted to the rank of Sergeant and received the National Defense Service Medal, the Korean Service Medal and the UN Service Medal. After leaving the Marine Corp he transitioned to the Civil Service and worked his entire career as an Aviation Technician expert at NAS Jacksonville, a branch of NADEP. Wally retired after 33 years of service.
As an adult, Wally was instrumental in establishing the Pop Warner football program in Orange Park. He served many years as a coach for football as well as Little League baseball, touching the lives of countless children. Fondly remembered as “Coach” to this day many of them speak about their great memories of Coach and the things he taught them.
Wally also actively supported his wife’s, Pauline, interest in art and was very creative himself. At his beloved home on Black Creek, Wally created an oasis for family and friends. The get togethers were always memorable and everyone was always included. Family get togethers at Christmas, birthdays, or Father’s Day were extra special and will be missed. No job was too big or too small for Wally to tackle. He taught himself how to do many things and projects were always completed to perfection.
Wally was loving and big hearted. He loved his wife, family, and friends and he will be missed.
