Peggy Ann (Baas) Hykes
Peggy Ann (Baas) Hykes, 89, passed away on Tuesday, December 24, 2019.
Peggy was born on January 19, 1930 in Columbus, OH during the Great Depression.
Upon meeting the love of her life and husband, James E. Hykes, a career Marine, Peggy’s life became one of wondrous adventure as they traveled the world together throughout his career.
Peggy was also extremely proud of her service to our country as a Civilian Personnel Specialist at each duty station along the way.
When Jim retired from the service they settled in Orange Park, FL where they resided for 20 years until Jim passed away.
In later years, Peggy lived with her daughter and son-in-law in Houston, TX. Her passions were helping others, sewing, cooking, music, decorating and shopping.
She was a wonderful loving and caring, wife, Mom, Grandma, GG and friend to so many.
Peggy’s affectionate smile, her beautiful essence, and her warm hugs will be missed by her family and friends.
Peggy is survived by her daughter, Beth E. Baker (Dennis) of Houston, TX; and son, Michael C. Hykes of Seattle, WA, beloved grandchildren: Brian James Mendoza (Ambur) of Spring, TX; Jennifer Corte; Peggy Hykes; Jamie Alto; Andrea Hykes; & Andrew Hykes. great grandchildren: Ashlyn, Madison, James Mendoza of Spring, TX & Makoa Corte.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 71 years, James E. Hykes and son James W. Hykes.
Peggy loved animals, especially her dogs.

Lawrence Leslie Hill
Lawrence Leslie Hill, 77, of Green Cove Springs, Florida, passed away January 11, 2020.
He was born on February 12, 1942 in Johnsonville, Illinois to parents Neil R. and Lovella Joann (Smith) Hill.
Mr. Hill was a resident of Green Cove Springs for 20 years, previously having been a resident of Rogers, Arkansas for 13 years and Amarillo, Texas for 10 years.
He was a previous VFW 3-time Commander in Post 1988. He also had the honor of being the United States Navy’s Sailor of the Year under Admiral Zumwalt. Of his many interests, he mostly enjoyed fishing, barbecuing, cooking, entertaining, and hunting.
Mr. Hill is predeceased by his mother, Lovella Joann Smith; father, Neil R. Hill; and brother, Victor Hill.
Mr. Hill is survived by his loving wife, Carrie Lynn Hill; son, Darrell DeWayne Hill; daughters, Angel Lynn Hill, Toni Marie Ragan, Shannon Leigh Powell, and Veronica Leslie Hill; brothers, Bruce Jones and Randy Hill; sister, Joan Carole Knoell; grandchildren, Nicholas Horvath, Matthew Horvath, Rebecca Horvath, Shane Powell, Morgan Powell, Angela Hill, Ronní Ragan, and more; great-grandchildren, Brendan Horvath, Aiden Horvath, and Penelope Horvath; and many loving cousins.
A graveside service with military honors will be held at 1:00 pm on Tuesday, January 28, 2020 at Jacksonville National Cemetery.

Jimmy Russell Brittain
Jimmy Russell Brittain, 89, passed away Saturday, December 21, 2019.
Mr. Brittain was born August 30, 1930, in Whittenburg, Texas to parents Homer E. and Tressie Rosella (Hess) Brittain.
He was a longtime resident of Green Cove Springs, moving from Oklahoma in 1960. He retired from the United States Navy as Lieutenant Commander and served in the Korean War and the Vietnam War. His parents preceded him in death.
Survivors are his wife Ruth Arlene Brittain of Green Cove Springs, daughters, Pamela Brittain of Gainesville, Patty Wainwright (Mitch) of Orange Springs, Peggy Sue Brittain of Middleburg, and Paula K. Brittain of Ocala.
Burial will be held at Jacksonville National Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests a donation to be made to Community Hospice, https://www.communityhospice.com/give/.

ERIC EDENFIELD

Eric Edenfield, 32, of Bostwick passed away accidentally on Thursday, January 23, 2020 in Palatka.
Eric was born in Jacksonville and grew up in Middleburg. He was a 2005 graduate of the Middleburg High School. He had formerly worked for J.E.A. in Jacksonville as a lineman and had recently returned from California where he worked with the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers as a lineman. He was a Conceal Carry instructor and was a member of the N.R.A. He owned and operated Daily Defense Solutions. An avid motorcyclist, he had logged 50,000 miles on his Harley-Davidson since 2015. Eric attended the Rock Bible Church in Middleburg.
Preceding him in death were his paternal grandparents, Edward Edenfield and Nadine Bartlett.
Surviving are his parents, Pastor Leon and Janice Edenfield; two sisters and brother-in-law, Sarah and Kevin Reinhardt, and Alana Edenfield; his maternal grandparents, Joe and Nola Howard; a niece and three nephews, Peyton, Asher and Deacon Reinhardt, and Rhaylen Edenfield.
Calling hours will be 6-8 p.m. Monday, Jan. 27th at Masters Funeral Home in Palatka. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 28th at St. Johns Baptist Church located at 938 West River Road, Palatka with Pastor Leon Edenfield and Pastor Paul Edenfield officiating. Burial will follow in Bostwick Cemetery.
