Students complete basic training

SAN ANTONIO, Texas – Two area students recently completed basic military training with the U.S. Air Force at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland near San Antonio, Texas.
Trainees completed an intensive, eight-week program that included training in military discipline and studies, Air Force core values, physical fitness, and basic warfare principles and skills.
Airmen who complete basic training also earn four credits toward an associate in applied science degree through the Community College of the Air Force.
The graduates are:
U.S. Air Force National Guard Airman 1st Class Peter-Karl R. Huwiler-Tran III is a 2015 graduate of Oakleaf High School in Clay County.

U.S. Air Force National Guard Airman 1st Class David R. Best earned distinction as an honor graduate. He is the son of David and Margaret Best, grandson of Margaret Nowlin, and son-in-law of Michael Tew, all of Starke. The airman is also the brother of Holly Tew and Rachel Best.
Best graduated in 2013 from Bradford High School and earned an associate degree in 2016 from Santa Fe College in Starke.
