ORANGE PARK - Ridgeview High got a third inning homer from Max Williams to push the Panthers to a 4-0 lead that led to a 7-4 win over Middleburg Wed., March 4 at Ridgeview High School. Middleburg falls to 2-2; Ridgeview improves to 4-2.

Ridgeview entered the Middleburg game after a 14-0 blowout win over Baldwin with 11 runs batted in on nine hits with Chase McFarland homering. Jayden Long opened on the mound and whiffed six batters in three innings.

Middleburg had a 4-0 loss to Keystone Heights on Mon., March 2 with Keystone Heights getting a homer from Garfield Johns.

Against Middleburg, Ridgeview opened with a swift double play from third base Logan Miller to Chase McFarland at second to J Long at first to stamp out some Panther defense. The Panthers sped to a 3-0 lead with a wild pitch from Bronco pitcher Samuel Rawlins in the first inning after Williams had singled and advanced to third. A second error by Middleburg got Williams in for a 1-0 lead.

Middleburg answered with their own double play with centerfielder Colby Anderson hitting Joe Justino at second to snipe Nomar Almanzar after Richard Long tagged to get to home plate for a 2-0 lead.

Middleburg got a long double to centerfield from Luke Padgett to start the second inning but Long got a strike out and Padgett got caught trying to steal third.

A third double play ball came via Middleburg with Calvin Gunsalus grounding to Justino who hit second baseman White who tossed to first base Gavin Sanford.

With Dickey singling in the third, Williams blasted a tall skyball toward centerfield that cleared the fence to up Ridgeview's lead to 4-0.

A Padgett, at third, to White, at second, to Sanford, at first, double play on a Neal Almanzar grounder ended the inning.

Middleburg finally got on the scoreboard with Long issuing a walk to Jarod Hutchingson and singles from Anderson and Rawlins netting one run. Anderson would steal home to score the game 4-2.

A third Middleburg double play in the fourth; White to Justino to Sanford was a highlight of the inning with three singles; Jacob Rowe, Gunsaulus and Dickey scoring two for Ridgeview.

Two walks by Long put Hutchingson at second and Anderson on base with a Padgett grounder scoring Hutchingson scoring; 6-3, before a wild pitch scored Anderson; 6-4.

A wild pitch by Middleburg relief pitcher Hutchingson scored the final run; from Gunsaulus who was on base after being hit by a Rawlins pitch.
