ST. JOHNS - Oakleaf High junior tailback Keshawn King had a handful of 40 yard runs in his school record 448 yard rushing total in pushing the Knights to a 38-35 district 3-7A win Friday night against Creekside High School.

The Oakleaf win improves the Knights to a 2-7 overall for the season with a final game against unbeaten (8-0) 6A-Ocala Vanguard on Friday. King now has rushed for 1,369 yards and 15 touchdowns for the Knights. After a first quarter field goal, King ripped a 50 yard scoring run to score the game 9-7 for Oakleaf in a game that saw numerous lead changes throughout the night. King scored on runs of one, two, three and the 50 yarder.

Creekside took a 14-9 lead on their next drive, but King retaliated with a 40 yard run to the six yard line that led to a second touchdown and a 16-14 Oakleaf lead into the second quarter. Creekside answered with an 80 yard touchdown bomb then followed with a blocked punt that led to a 15 yard touchdown pass and a 28-16 lead for Creekside.

Back to back touchdowns from King, on runs of 40 and 48 yards gave Oakleaf a 31-28 lead, but Creekside got a penalty flag against Oakleaf on the five yard that led to a touchdown and a 35-31 Creekside lead, but an onsides kick by Creekside was successful.

Oakleaf came up with a blocked field goal by defensive end Chantz Williams, who finished with eight tackles, three for losses and two sacks plus caught a two point conversion pass from King, to set up another run by King; this a 20 yarder, but the drive stalled and Oakleaf gave up the ball on the 40. A fumble recovery by freshman Chrystan Sellers on the next Creekside play gave Oakleaf possession at the 40 where King ran 18 yards to set up an 11 yard run from Adrian Gray for the final 38-35 score with two minutes to go.
